I recently got hold of some coilovers (as most people will already know judging by the amount of posts I've got dotted about the forum about them LOL).

Just wondering if this is right or not before I have them put on the car..

The rear shocks, I can compress them by hand and they don't return, is this normal behaviour or are they goosed?

Thanks in advance smile

Dan

I bought some konis a while back which did this. I was once told by a garage that as long as there is no oil leaking, or jerkiness of the shocker movement, then it is generally ok.
The weight of the car and the spring will push it out when in position, and when it is in position it can be checked with a "bounce test".
However, i would like someone else to confirm this?

I'm 90% certain the Koni rear damper is gas pressurised and should expand on it's own, I say this because I remember it being a real pain to compress the damper to adjust the damping on it, relax for just one second and it would start to expand again and come out of the internal slot you have to engage to adjust them.

I've had that many different types of damper that I could be mistaken but I seem to remember them being like that.

A Gas/Oil damper will expand, an oil damper won't.
