Being a newbie to 'jazzing up' the 20VT I am wondering? What is the best single modification in your eye's - Engine or body, to do to the coupe? If you could let me know why this is, all the better.

Thanks guy's

Strut brace

Or even just a good service and a refresh of the suspension parts.

Driver training laugh

Seriously - the best way to make a Coupe go better is to improve the bit that operates it. I've seen some hugely fast cars driven slowly by complete muppets (who thought they were driving quickly) and I've seen some very modest cars driven faster than I could ever hope to drive.

An hours tuition is worth fifty horsepower in my opinion

Good Job I'm in IAM then - bikes and cars .. That's me sorted.

Seriously though, it is a very good point

Yup - I'm IAM too - got my AGM letter this morning

However, IAM training is one thing - roadcraft is about making "good progress" - track tuition is quite different, its about how to handle a car when its at (or even just past) its limits - its about how to make the car go as fast as possible while keeping it right way up

I've been with the IAM for years - learnt LOADS, but when I took some trackday tuition, I learned even more.

I'm pretty sure if you asked your IAM instructor to assist you with left-foot braking, trail braking, racing lines and four-wheel drifting, they'd take your badge!

Lol - my instructor for bikes seemed like a right old fart when I first met him, after a two hour ride out though, I thought he was the god of the road and begged to know more!

The bike crowd were a little stranger, they even liveried their bikes to look like the police - probably cause half of them were at some point.

Found this more difficult than with the car side of things

Although most would expect me to say 'strutbrace', it would have to be HIDS for me too.

I always think an exhaust is a 3-way mod:
Not only will the car (1) sound better (which affects your whole perception of how special/sporty it is) but it should also (2) be slightly quicker and (3) should look better albeit in a limited way. Bargain.

Possibly thought more of an upgrade than a mod, but I always thought a good suspension set up is the first thing I would invest in. True a strut/brace sharpens thing up.

In my eyes it doesn't matter how well the engine performs etc, you really need a comfortable suspension to suit your needs, then its brakes, but I would do that at the same time..... wink

I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

My thoughts exactly, stops you crashing when it's dark, which has to be a good thing...

hids for me as well.
the car is too fast for standard lights (my pushbike would also be too quick for coupe lights)

has to be HID's.
How fiat got away with the unbelievable naffness of the oe is beyond belief. I Remember taking a friend for a spin just after I got my coupe, got on a motorway with no lighting and it was scary driving at speed with lights which only illuminate the road 20 foot infront.
HID's on the coupe should be considered a must have item in the interest of your own safety, and as a bonus they look cool aswell

I know it's not one, and in no particular order but:

- HIDs
- GTEC1 / Flea Map
- Strut brace

I'd agree with HIDs, strut brace and widget in that order but think that brake shims should also be up there somewhere!

This of course depends on how embarassingly squealy your brakes are (in my case lots).

Up yours Photobucket.
