Nothing easy with these cars is there! My set of hids have been delivered to the old couple a few doors down...they go to sleep around 8:00pm Drove from Bracknell to Carnforth and back (500ish miles) today and really could have done with these lights being fitted. Will look at my lens tomorrow evening to see if the dust is as bad as yours was sam, hopefully it should be clean as LE's just don't do dirty

Pretty easy to do it yourself Mawv. Connecting everything up is probably not even 5 minutes of work, its more about routing all the cables and hiding/fitting the ballast to the coupe's bonnect somewhere.

Good to see that the HIDS have come down in price, I did a group buy in 2004/5 but we had to get them from Canada! now very easy to get and at a fraction of the price.
Has anyone had any issued with the HIDs interfering with the electric levelers? there was afew that seemed to blow the motors, I think mine are still going strong - am sure you guys already know this but bluer the light - less visual power ie 4500k provide better performance than 8000k - how ever some like to go to the higher for more blue light etc.

I was very worried about the stories of HID's blowing their leveler's but luckily mine haven't either. However, even on their 'low' setting I still get people flashing me occasionally. They must get quite a shock when i flash back with my normal full beam bulbs.

Mine are here!
Had a quick look around the box they came in for a manufacturer, nothing. Country where they were made, nothing.
Am I the only one a little bit worried about putting unknown electrical kit into my pride and joy?

Have a look at the instructions and tell me if they make any sense These days the kits are foolproof to install, back in the days of Hanny's group buy (I got mine from brinks, remember him?) we all ran extra cabling and relays, these latest kits are just plug n play, just need to cut a hole out of the rubber cover at the back of the lights. Blimey - thats good to have plug and Plays - but do you not need to get additional earth? I think this was one of the 'prime suspects' to leveler motors blowing. Oh yes I remember Brinks - nice chap - wonder what hes up to now?

As you may/may not have seen from my other thread in general maintenance, i have just fitted a set of HIDs.
Just to say my levellers have just blown after about 2 weeks - don't know if mounting location of ballast's has anything to do with it but I squeezed mine in the gap directly beneath the leveller motor on the headlight body. In hindsight, I would recommend to anyone to disconnect unless they are not really bothered either way.
On a plus side they are dead easy to fit, just watch where you mount the ballasts to make sure they don't prevent the bonnet from closing. And routing the cables so they look tidy can be a bit of pain.

Here we have, for your viewing pleasure.... Car to left - 35W 6000K HIDs & Tower LED (White) sidelights Car to right - Standard Halogens & Tower LED (Blue) sidelights My work colleague bought some of the tower LED's but, received blue instead of white. We are not too sure about the legality of having the 'blue' sidelights, so for now, they stay. They are actually 'bluer' and brighter than the picture shows!!

I am, and they aren't. Simples. I foresee another set of blue lights in your near future........

We are not too sure about the legality of having the 'blue' sidelights,
I am, and they aren't. Simples. I foresee another set of blue lights in your near future........ I find this extremely aggravating I have to say. I had a Golf MKV behind me last night on a country road with these bright blue sidelights. Was driving me mad in the rear view mirror. Annoying little oik kept slowing and speeding up goading me to 'let em have it' So I did. I pulled over at the first opportunity to let her past. Off the vehicle sped into the night... I wonder at what point she will realise that she was in a very discreet average speed area.... Maybe when the NIP arrives for her

all in all there very good, the last 2 sets I had used to flicker slightly on bumps, these are fine

Yep, no problems with mine either. Good spend as far as I'm concerned. Earlier up the post, someone asked what the warm up time was. 5 seconds is the answer.

I just fitted these HID's yesterday to my main beam lights to complete my eradication of yellow halogen bulbs from the front of my car . They might be slightly dearer than other ones mentioned in the thread but they're worth it for the fact that the ballasts are super slim (at least half the height of any other HID's I've had) and it makes locating them under the head light a lot easier . Here's hoping they last as long as my current dip beam ones, which are still going strong after 2 years. Baz

Ordered a set of H1 35w 6000k HIDs and H1 main beam bulbs for £69.99 inc postage from http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/. The kit comes with a 2year warranty, and the bulbs are warrantied for 1 year. Next day delivery too apparently.
