cowboy had his coil pack cover lime green originally and I think it look too much all the same colour, his looks better with the chrome as a contrast.
maybe get a spare and paint up both so you can see which looks best

lol, I thought quite the opposite, as the spark plug cover isn't symmetrical it looks odd, every one has different tastes though

Ill get some photos of it tomorrow and have a look, I also plan to do the strut brace and clean the washer bottle

the plenum would probably look pretty good in yellow too as well as the strut brace

Dave, after looking at it, I took your advice, the plug cover is going to be gloss black (done that) and the rocker cover is going to be yellow (bloody paint shop closed early!)

I think it would look best with the rocker cover black, with yellow writing and a yellow coil pack cover. but then again its not my car....

either way it will look nice and shiny and clean

the gloss is black is a lovely color but it shows up every tiny little mark, dust, finger print... With the amount of checking the car gets oil and levels wise, I would spend the next month of sundays polishing the rocker cover

its not right, I did sand it back but the paint just would not stick so its start over again

what paint did you use Sam??
if you used hammerite apparently it takes about 6 months to cure properly and would stay gummy underneath.
i have tried sanding it before and it was a nightmare

No, this was commercial standard paint from the local body shop suppler.

I started painting it and thought my god this yellow is horrid, hi vis style. So I added some gloss black to the mix. All looked good under strip lites, under day light there was a defoliant green tinge to it (cowboy would have loved it!)

So I went to sand back tonight and repaint, the lacker although cut back a lot just caused the paint to run about and not set. it was a hard desesion to make but it was going to be less peeing about me taking it back to metal than not being happy with it once on the car

Mine needs rubbing down and another couple of coats of paint and a couple of coats of laquer putting on it.




It looks better in the flesh to be honest, very pearlescent, it's Ford Electric orange as on the focus ST's, bit garish but wanted to be different!!!

I take you used a primer for alloy first ?

I did yes, I have taken it back to metal now and will start again with the aloy primer, sanding, primer, then paint

Take it to your local powder coat place and exchange some cash for nice yellow and black parts

finally finished this again after a couple of weeks on hold, Half way though doing it again, I did something very very silly and ended up spilling 300ml of paint all over the rocker cover again as it was drying

I need to have a tidy up in my shed!

any how as it looks now, and as its going to stay, the black letters are to hard to do well, so I wont do them at all!
