Ireland- Sunday 2nd October meetup. - 19/09/2011 11:17

Hi Guys,

I've started a dedicated thread for the October 2nd meeting as the other thread is a follow on from an earlier Carlingford meeting.

Anyways I’ve been asked whether it would be possible to move the location of the next meeting towards Dublin, as some have a long way to drive from. We have people coming from Monaghan, Down, Mayo, Meath and Dublin so far. I'm not sure where Tierney is from.

City North Hotel could be an option. It's on the M1 about 10 mins north of Dublin Airport. It has a large carpark (where the ALMC Motor Show is held every year), a bar/restaurant and we could take the by-roads over to Balbriggan/Skerries direction for a spin or even to Ardgillan Castle & Demesne.

Another option further south is Cherrywood Business and Tech. Park, Dublin 18, just off the M50 where there is a “Cars & Coffee” event on from 10.30am on the same day, Oct 2nd. I’ve never been to it and I haven’t a clue what kind of cars will be there, but it might me a possibility. There’s some chat about it on Pistonheads. You can also get an idea of the mix of cars at the last September meeting on pages 13/14 of this Octane Thread.

Let me know your preferences....I’m open to other ideas too.

So far (1)Carlingford, (2) City North, (3) Cars & Coffee

Hi lads.

Just a heads up with this one this sunday in case you might have missed it.

http://allitalia.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=meetsitalian&action=display&thread=2366

I think its open to all. I might drop over if all works out. Could have some quite interesting cars and people there.

Why not pop over to the C&C in Cherrywood that morning?

I'm hoping to have mine back on the road by then.

Hi y'all,

Literally just in the door from JRC Autos where I got my aux belts and three tensioners replaced. Happy days. The car is good to go!

Sounds like the C&C is a runner then.

Looking forward to this.

Anyone got any wheels that'll fit a 20vt? I'm looking for winter snow tyre wheels so anything will do.

Re: Ireland- Sunday 2nd October meetup. - 28/09/2011 10:30

That’s a shame e30forlife. CHOD is a pain but relatively straightforward to sort out, though your mechanic will lose numerous layers of skin on his knuckles trying to squeeze his hands behind the block!! The job isn’t as complicated as the ‘How to’ guide suggests. You don’t have to remove as much stuff as indicated. The pipe itself is about €25 IIRC.

Well it looks like we may have up to 8 coupés for Sunday, which is a record for the FCCUK in the republic. Does anybody have any specific suggestions for meeting up? Does anybody want to meet up nearby, get ourselves into a cavalcade and make a “parade” entrance into C&C? Or will we just turn up at the C&C in our own time?

I don’t know this neck of the woods whatsever. I’ll be coming from the M1 onto the M50 at the airport, probably travelling with CollieD from Dundalk. Does anybody know this area and where we can easily meet up?

Oh, also what time are we planning on meeting? C&C starts from 10.30am apparently. Does anybody know how long it goes on til?

It's all new to me tongue

Re: Ireland- Sunday 2nd October meetup. - 28/09/2011 12:51

You'll need to turn off the M50 at Jct 16/Cherrywood. From coming south on the M50, I'd suggest keeping to the left lane on the turn off to the lights and pull into the hard shoulder about 0.5km after the lane merge, if we go with a 'parade' entrance.

I can be parked up there as I've been into the C&C meet before. The meet usually goes on till 12.30, so maybe organise to meet at 11-ish?

I got mine from Fiat. Just popped into a garage and went to parts dept. Got next day delivery too. Like I said, I think it was about €25.

Hope this helps smile

Re: Ireland- Sunday 2nd October meetup. - 03/10/2011 15:56

Yes,

Twas a very good Coupé meetup and a good C&C indeed. As CollieD says, we had 4 coupés parked up along with a host of other rare and wonderful machinery.

We ended up at the end of the day in convoy on the M50, 5-pots in an in-line four!

good to meet you guys

The convoy was good, my little fella was wondering why we were bringing up the rear - I like fast but he likes faster.

looking forward to the next one

Hi Daithi,

my good missus said she seen you in Drog today.

Hope your renovations are coming on well. Dont envy you.
Just to let you know the long womans grave road has been resurfaced. Its worth a spin if your down this way.

Re: Ireland- Sunday 2nd October meetup. - 27/10/2011 21:38

Hi Colin,

Aye got talking to your good missus briefly at the petrol station. I hear you were off horse riding, as if having a coupe isn't an expensive enough hobby for you laugh

Renovations... one small bathroom, one big headache. The house is a bombsite!

Kitchen work begins in 4 weeks apparently frown
Oh definitely, we must get a spin around the long womans grave. I'll maybe try and get down in a couple of weeks, if you are not busy changing stinky nappies hurl
