Viva released their dates for 2022 so hopefully life will be back to normal enough for us to have a club presence next year.

Received a message from Rene letting us know he's secured 25 places for Viva next year, we also have track time available so if you fancy driving on Zandvoort now's your chance.

I'm thinking about it too Alan, if you're up NE way we could get the ferry over from NCL - the best way to go smile

Yes this route was a shoe-in until I saw the prices frown

I'm now considering Hull-Rotterdam, although I note it's P&O not DFDS that operate it frown

Its very tempting if it wasn't for changing the holiday dates, ferry crossing, accommodation for 8 stops and the vet checks in Germany then maybe bangheadI expect all of that wont line up again

I think that's a very poor reason to miss Viva tongue

Is there an English translation for the website? I did mail them about it several weeks ago but no reply

Yes annoying isn't it, I've said for years how bad their website is, but there is an option to translate the page top right, or download a translator from Firefox.

Is that the red button at top right? It is only revealing future events for me.

I'm using Firefox but will try Chrome and maybe that'll offer a translation...

Got it in Chrome smile

Re: Viva Italia June 06 2022. - 25/04/2022 11:04

Ok, so I've got:

3x Entry tickets
1x Show car ticket (freebies out of stock)
2x Parades

Have I missed anything?

I see there is a "transactional cost" which cancels out the discount rolleyes

I think you're set thumb

Re: Viva Italia June 06 2022. - 29/04/2022 12:58

Finally booked!

Hull-Rotterdam this time as far cheaper than DFDS from NCL, also later departure times smile

I think René is looking after the paddock tickets, so it's just entry and whatever track events to book now cool

Jake will be joining us in his Abarth, and possibly Rob40 if he can get cover.

M and I plan to catch one of the several ferries that depart from the east coast on Friday evening laugh

We're leaving this afternoon, safe drive and we'll see you Monday thumb

Re: Viva Italia June 06 2022. - 03/06/2022 19:32

Now I know why P&O need you to check in an hour-and-a half before departure...so they can leave FIFTY minutes early!!

Re: Viva Italia June 06 2022. - 03/06/2022 19:51

It would never happen at an airport rolleyes

Re: Viva Italia June 06 2022. - 03/06/2022 20:04

I sense sarcasm Dave as it happened on our four flights last year!

I think the idea is the ferry leaves early then saunters across using less fuel...

Simon

We are flying out of Edinburgh, Sunday morning, to the south of France.

Have a word with your pals there, and ask them to see me through without any problems please.

Enjoy your time everybody !

Forecast not looking as good as I thought, been chucking it down in Amsterdam late this afternoon frown

Re: Viva Italia June 06 2022. - 06/06/2022 18:51

In spite of rain sadly curtailing the day and wrapping things up by around 3 o'clock, hats-off again to the organisation and generosity of "the Dutchies" who give us all their customary warm welcome and time to switch languages to chat with us

Zandvoort was a first time for me and in spite of its proximity to the beach it's got a healthy dose of inclines and dips, as well as some nippy corners - one particular right-hander has a reverse camber threatening to throw off the unwary. Assen, the previous few years' venue, is flatter but less acute, even the chicane at the start of the stands being a nifty twitch rather than extra braking.
Both are well shorter than Spa which has long runway-wide patches contrasting with the likes of the incomparable Eau Rouge smile

joe was more fortunate this time but the jinx hit Jake instead who blew a gasket at the end of his first session, compounded by ?rear caliper seizure? on his early return home frown

Still an extra hour back in Haarlem with Emilia was a fair substitute, packed food and a beer or so augmenting the luggage on a relaxed run to the Rotterdam-Hull ferry .....which excelled itself by leaving fifty-TWO mintes early shocked
