Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 08/02/2006 08:29

No worries Iian. It was a good meeting and we got a new Coupe owner joining in the form of Big Ian. Unfortunately both of us are Coupeless also at the minute .

Anyway the NIIMC has decided that Saturday 20th May is fine as far as the date goes so if the Alfa Owners club agree then this is the date to put in the diary. In regards location Athlone was also agreed as being a suitable venue, it may be a bit far for some up north, but if it means getting a definate location sorted that everyone in Ireland is happy with then thats OK.

Keep an eye on NIIMC to keep an eye on a definate location but I will post here when its finally sorted.

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 14/02/2006 18:18

The date for the meet has been decided for May 20th,
The venue has yet to decided so there's a page on alfaowners to see who's coming to it from where to help sort out where to have it.

Can anyone who want's to go to this meet go to alfaowners

and type in where in the country they are coming to the meet from.
You'll need to register onto the site.

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 20/02/2006 08:16

I suppose now is as good a time as any to ask where every one will be driving from? I would like to get some form of a convoy going. If Im driving from Magherfelt I would probably be driving directly south down through Cookstown, Dungannon, Armagh etc. I understand alot of people will be coming from the Belfast direction so where would be a good meet point for everyone?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 21/02/2006 04:56

Dungannon would be good for people coming from Belfast/lisburn/lurgan etc

Assuming that armagh to athlone is the way to go ? (I havent looked at it yet)
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 21/02/2006 19:06

OK. Just looked at the map and I think the best way to go is for everyone to meet in Armagh then head for Monaghan, Clones, Cavan then theres a road the N55 which goes direct from Cavan to Athlone. If anyone has a map handy take a look and tell me what you think.

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 23/02/2006 22:49

Should be around if not in Spain
Will be coming from Midlands and know the Hudson like the back of my hand, far to many drunken weddings in that place for comfort
I'll pass the details over to a few Alfa 156 and GTV drivers in my office

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 24/02/2006 01:27

Ally , I'm passing Edgeworthstown tomorrow on a delivery to Dublin,
I can check out from there to Athlone (N55) on the way home and see what the road is like!

I did the Granard - Edgeworthstown bit a couple of years ago and I thought it was ok in a Punto Sporting, that section should still be the same or better.

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 24/02/2006 02:23

Spot on Darren, let me know how how you get on. Keep in mind a Coupe with Cadamuro bumpers and lowered on Coilovers when evaluating the road, Thanks.

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 25/02/2006 06:22

I'll come..depending on where it is. I'm between Athlone & Longford...

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 25/02/2006 21:30

Edgeworthstown N55 is a good road..bumpy in places and nice hairpins around Castlepollard, north of Mullingar...

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 27/02/2006 14:16

Ally I did that run, it's a smooth road, and I've pace noted any bumps!!
I'll pm them to you tonight.

Happy Brithday BigIan !

I'm gonna see if I can combine it with a trip home, would be awesome!

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 28/02/2006 05:04

Thanks Darren. Much appreciated . The N54 & N55 seems to be by far the most direct route for us northerners espicially if we can all meet in Armagh or somewhere.

Im really looking forward to this, I read the threads on the meets the guys across the water have all the time and always makes me

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 28/02/2006 05:24

Birthday over now

But coupe should be back with me by end of week

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 10/03/2006 04:35

OK Im afraid its not looking good for the ALL Ireland meet as the NIIMC is breaking away to do there own thing. I was not at the meeting when the decision was made but you can read NIIMC here.

Will give it a while to see how this all plays out but if the 20th May was still a goer Id still make the journey down if we were sure of getting enough Coupes. Whats the latest from the AlfaOwners and you guys down south on this?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 10/03/2006 06:40

Its also moved to the 27th May as the 20th is a big Rugby final day or something..

I think basically there were no takers on organisin the event down south so the decision was made to organise it up north this year and see how it goes

P.s Ally I got the coupe back on the road (also another Coupe owner joined the club on tuesday, Graham)

I'm up a meet in Athlone if enough Coupe's attend but the 20th of May would suit me better.
What does the rest of the owners think??

The Alfa site seems down most of the time, but there's nothing happening there.

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 12/03/2006 05:27

Such a pity the Athlone thing seems to be falling through. From what I gather from Stuart (Main man at NIIMC) he just wanted somebody at the AlfaOwners end to meet him half way and help with the organising of the event. Its too far for any of us guys up North to travel down to inspect the venue and make arrangements on site with the land owners etc. I think Stuart asked quite a while a go and still no response. I do no that the AO site has been down alot but still a pity that no one closer to the venue from the AO end has got anything sorted.

Stuart is a very passionate guy when it comes to things like this and as the idea originally came from AO but then no one put the work in to getting it sorted I can see where hes coming from.

If a definate date and venue was properly organised in Athlone or anywhere else for that matter and at least 10 coupe owners gave a definate then I would be still willing to travel down.

PS Glad to here the Coupe Clan is growing in the NIIMC, just have to get Iian (yellowcoop) to get his ass down to a meeting.

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 01/04/2006 20:24

As in roadside meet by a burger stand or something more interesting..like a day down at Mondello Circuit where we really can see who's Coupe is quickest?

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 02/04/2006 06:19

Skodaman thats an excellant idea . Ive been thinking about trackdays and doing a bit of research into them. I even got myself a crash helmet. Theres a club called trackskills that meets at Kirkistown, and they give you tuition and its properly marshalled with very strict rules. All the guys over the water have track meets all the time why cant we? If we could get a few names of people that are interested that would be great. So the list is:

allystew
skodaman
darmtb

(I think we need a few more)

Shit, if you do Mondello I'll deffo bring the coupe back for that!

(last time I did a lap there was after an Alfa Trade day [complete jolly ] and I did a lap in my old 54BHP Seicento Sporting!!)

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 05/04/2006 03:18

I'm booked for the afternoon session 1/5/06..never used a track before. I think one of our guys in Dublin is bringing his na down..dunno if he's got the nerve to try it on the track.

Anyone else want to come? Book soon.

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 05/04/2006 06:00

Good job skodaman with sorting a date. I'll see how Im fixed at work and get it booked off. Not sure if I'll have all my tuning bits in for start of May but I'd still go for a blast for the craic .

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 17/05/2006 14:25

I shall be in attendance - nice one - just happened to be going home for a week the day before...(i havent mixed myself up here have i???Is this the one in Lisburn??)

I dont believe in coincidence...the missus is well chuffed.....(OK maybe not)

PS: Have you got a bit of press coverage for it? (Newsletter-Irish News - Tele etc...?)
Its great PR and nice for the N I contingent to pop it on the "Press" section....

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 17/05/2006 22:32

Yes you are right CJH, the reason it is in the Non uk section is because the original location was to be in southern Ireland but due to lack of time and anyone willing to organise it in the south it was moved to the north for this year anyhow.

Hope to see you on the 27th

A great day - must have been 10 (?) coupes during the whole event. Brilliant pictures, Ally - It's great to see them all together in the line up! All we need are a few more owners and we could (almost!!!) give the X19 owners club a run for their money!

Che bad luck mate . Im down in Bangor this Sunday (11th) for a big car show and shine and will be down in Dublin the weekend after (18th) for biggest modified show in Ireland. Would meet up for sure as we couldve compared mats if mine is here in time. We always meet first Tuesday of every month in Lisburn.

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 08/06/2006 13:07

Typical of my timing Ally, still, will be nice to get out in the Coop and explore your roads

The mats take around 30 days to deliver (All the mats are made to order etc...) so unlikley you'll have them in time I'm afraid. Still, post up some picks of anything interesting at the Dublin event.

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 08/06/2006 15:22

If youve time take the coast road From Bangor through Belfast and Carrickfergus and follow it up round the coast until Bushmills. The best and most secenic road in NI, really twisty in places with big cliffs so take it easy !

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 08/06/2006 16:53

Ally -- you got it bang on there....

THE best roads for the coupe ive driven on in a long time -- im just back and the Antrim Coast Roads are cracking!!!

PS: Ally there was a guy at the meet that took some piccys of people in the ferrari...my nephew got a piccy and the guy told me he would post it either on here or on niimc...still aint found them...nor do I know the guys name!

Any help would be appreciated Ally...

Hi Guys.I have a BIIIIIG PROBLEM. Police check me and said I have no value inurance ( I have only Polish insurance) and next time if I haven't got NI Insurance they arest me. I don't know what to do!!!!!!!!!! my FC is standing in front of my house but I can't move it. They said I MUST HAVE Northern Ireland Insurance because I work here permament.Any ideas???????????
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: All Ireland Italian Car Owners meet - 18/06/2006 03:39

Go speak to an insurance broker but I fear it will cost you. Is your Polish Insurance with any of the major european companies..ie if you have no claims discount (no fault accidents within the last 5 years) you should get some sort of reduced premium? If not then 100% premium for a foreign 'first time driver' on a Coupe (if they will quote) in Belfast will probably cost more than the Coupe is worth
