All Ireland Italian Gathering 2009

All Ireland Italian Gathering 2009 - 21/07/2009 14:48

The Northern Ireland Italian Motor Club is pleased to announce that we are running the “All Ireland Italian gathering” for 2009..
And we are even more pleased to announce that we have again secured Cultra Folk and transport museum to host the event. Last time we ran the event there we had over 90 vehicles attend. We hope to have an even greater response this time around.
The date for the event is Saturday August 29th and it is being in the grounds of the transport museum down near the boat. There will be an entrance fee of £5 (which goes to the Museum not NIIMC). The £5 entry will entitle entrance to the event and entrance for 2 people to both the transport museum and the Folk museum. Not bad considering normal entry to the transport museum is normally £8.
The event is open to ‘anything’ Italian, new or old, or has an Italian connection. “We have no restrictions on age”.
Gates open at 10 am and vehicles will be directed were to park. When parking all we ask is that vehicle drivers park were asked and please note as this is a static event once parked up you will be there until you decide to leave.

If you would like to come as another type of vehicle club please contact me at chairman@niimc.net and I will arrange this.

Also if you hope to attend please post on this thread as it gives us an idea of what space we will need to lay out.

Hope you can attend and look forward to a good turnout.

Stuart, Chairman.

As its only 15 minutes up the road from me, there's a good chance I'll be there. Mind you as its a Saturday, there's equally as good a chance I'll be too hung over to drive anywhere!

I really would love to go to this,

What time do you expect it to be over at, once you park do you have to stay till the end? I might have somewhere else to be that day too but I'd really like to give the coupe its first outing to something like this.

The Museum looks well worth a visit too.

The Folk and Transport Museum are both excellent and make a great day out.

Do what I did a couple of years back JK. Be the last to arrive, get parking at the front of everyone else, thus securing a quick and easy exit should you decide to leave early.

Although if you've never been to the Folk and Transport museum before I'd reccommend making a day of it.

I should be up for this, hope to see you there again, John, that was a handy spot we got last time.

Was indeed darmtb. Couldn't have asked for better weather either.

Unfortunately, although my coop is still spotless and shiney on the inside, I'll be wanting to park the passenger side very close to a hedge!!!

Hi there!

I'm on for it too. Haven't been to the transport museum/Cultra in about 10 years. It's a great place.

How lucky that I have the 22nd Aug and the 5th Sept booked up but the 29th free!

I think it is a sign. Maybe I should finally get the front end resprayed on the car in preparation......

Re: All Ireland Italian Gathering 2009 - 30/07/2009 18:12

And just to add to my last post, my mother has just reversed into the back of my coupe so I'll now need a front end and rear end respray grr

FFS rolleyes does the pain never end?

You really are having no luck wit this car daithi!

Is the damage bad, will u now need a total respray?
Posted By: CollieD

Re: All Ireland Italian Gathering 2009 - 01/08/2009 10:33

Daithi,

very sorry to hear that. But remember you can replace your coupe but never your mother. (Think of this and it might help)

This car hates me I'm sure of it. I think we may be ending our relationship sooner rather than later.

Damage is barely noticeable to the passer by, but I can notice it which annoys me. I have polished about 95% of the scuffs on the bumper. There is a very very slight scuff and crease on the bootlid and the boot won't close without a good slam.

Took the coupe yesterday to the local paint shop to get a quote for the bootlid and bumper fix plus the front end respray following on from the previous disiater with the bonnet spray.

Garage rang back and said they won't touch the car as they have enough work and thet job is too much hassle (bonnet requires full strip back to metal).

Think I'll get the car sorted out and put it up for sale in Sept. Might get something (slightly more) practical like an 2000 A4 1.8T Quattro Sport remapped to 225bhp.

Karl where was that gaarge you took you coupe too? I might get a quote for a respray.

That'll be yet more money haemorrhaging out of my account for the coupe.... again rolleyes

Ugh! I DON'T BELIEVE IT grr

I've double booked the weekend of the 29th, to try a spot of fishing off the coast of Donegal (have never fished before). Hotel has been booked an all so I can't cancel.

I was really looking forward to the NIIMC meet frown

Sorry guys. I am an idiot!

Hi Daithi,
Dixie has just passed the MOT (up here they practically shake the car 'til something drops off!!!)
Think I spotted you a couple of weeks ago, driving through the road works at Dromore (A1 carriage way) just before the next road works at Hillsborough. If not you, then a gleaming black southern reg LE!!

Stuart - just looked at the weather forecast for Sat & looks like it will be the best day of the week (but that's not saying much!!)

That was me alright, either going to or coming back from the tall ships weekend in Belfast! Shame I didn't spot you.

Re: All Ireland Italian Gathering 2009 - 28/08/2009 15:02

I have been down to Cultra today to check the grounds. We will not be parking on the grass as it is just to waterlogged but there is more than enough hard ground to park on.
Just a couple of things for anyone attending. On arrival all drivers have to sign in, this was asked by the Museum people and please everyone, park were directed as it will make our job easier to keep spaces to a maximum.
The outlook is for scattered showers during the day but more dry than wet. We can only hope.

Look forward to seeing everyone.

Hopefully see you there Stuart. My daughter is heading to a sleepover tonight and I'm fighting the urge to head out on the town. So with any luck no one will txt or call with that deadly little suggestion "DRINK?"

No reason not to come along, you can suffer along with me, it's my 10 wedding anniversary today so I'm heading out in 20 mins!

Re: All Ireland Italian Gathering 2009 - 28/08/2009 16:51

Congrats Stuart.

However, unlike sensible middle aged guys my age, if I head out it'll be after ten before I even think of calling a taxi. It'll be 2am before I leave the bar and by that stage I'm as likely to end up home in bed as I am to end up in a lock in, or a club til 5am, or sitting up talking the proverbial till the sun (what sun!) comes up.

Drink in, sense out as they say. But hey no one has phoned as yet so you never know.

Congrats Stuart!

Afraid i'm heading out tonight too so I'll have a head on me tomorrow aswell plus I'v to drive up from Derry in the morn.

Def gonna force myself to make it to this one!
See you all there.

Re: All Ireland Italian Gathering 2009 - 28/08/2009 20:40

well, I'm meant to be at a free bar tonight but dodged it because I know that if I went that i'd be on it all weekend and really didn't want to miss tomorrow!! just gonna pop down to a mates for a couple of beers now (famous last words) so might be a little fuzzy but will defo be there, hopefully before 11am.
Enjoy your night Stuart

Re: All Ireland Italian Gathering 2009 - 02/09/2009 06:20

BIG thank you to everyone who came to the Event. As usual I never got a chance for a decent chat with anyone though.

72 cars in total came along, along with 15 bikes and 3 Traffic Branch cars at one point.

We've already started working on next years event and have May 29th penciled in as the date this time. We have to confirm it with the Museum over the next couple of weeks.
We're also looking at extending the invitation to other clubs to make the event even bigger so no reason why FCCUK can't be represented.

Thanks again.

Thanks Stuart. Some nice cars there, Favourites have to be the Lancia Monte Carlo, all the integrales, that immaculate Fiat 127, and the older ferrari (was it a 308??), it was absolutely stunning looking.

Gentlemen

Have just got myself a 20VT that requires a little 'attention'. Do any of you know of any local breakers yards that have one. Really need bonnet, grill and RH indicator/fog. Leather interior would also be nice.

Re: All Ireland Italian Gathering 2009 - 05/09/2009 18:02

Where about are you rintyh?

There's a 16v breaking in Cork. See ad here.

Also I believe somebody was breaking a Coupé on the NIIMC.

Ah found it here!

Hope that's of some help to you.

Oh and welcome to the forum thumb

Thanks guys . I'm outside Lisburn. Have a long family history of Fiats from the highly underrated 132 (in my opinion) and 131 owned by parents to 127 Palio (bit of a collectors item now - wish I'd kept it) to Uno and Marea Weekend 20V (again highly underrated).

Stuart - would appreciate if you could let me know where the new bonnets are.

PM sent. With a history of Fiats you really should consider joining the NIIMC.
