Re: First coupe - 09/12/2012 10:36

I got mine in Sept 2000.
It was 3, I was 32.
Back then I was a bit scared of it, and sold it to a friend in 2001, then bought it back in 2007.

Mine was a year old and came from a RAF guy, it came from Germany like many others. Forces got great deals on them.

Re: First coupe - 09/12/2012 17:53

I was 35. I had lots of good fun cars til I was 30 but had a few years in the sensible zone because of a change in job circumstances (commuting and stupid hours getting in the way). Coops got me back to car sanity.

Re: First coupe - 09/12/2012 18:03

Bought mine in 2008 when I was 25 or 26.

Bought it because I wanted something that was as quick as my turbocharged Clio 16V.

It wasn't - but it is now!

Re: First coupe - 09/12/2012 19:30

Bought my Sprint Blue in August 2011, aged 23. Wanted a coop for a good few years but insurance was a nightmare!
Had spent 3 weeks previously working in Spain & Portugal.
Got home, went on t'interweb at 8pm, by 12pm the next day I was driving a coop out of London!

Garage in Tottenham took it as p/ex and didn't know what it was, offered them £600 to take it out of their hands. Checked few bits, it didn't smoke, it didn't knock and the oil pressure was good. the only piece of history was a recent cambelt recipt though frown

Originally bought as spares for another coupe I had my eye on. With 142k I figured I best have the AA on standby as it was a 250-mile journey home... 16 months & 11,000miles later it's still going strong!
Upon inspection it was FAR too good to break, not a single piece of corrosion and good compression across all 5 (And the 2nd coupe still isn't here)
Admittedly the only thing I've had to do to it is fit a £100 2nd-hand Turbo @ 146k and take it to the MOT Test Station...

Apologies for length, probably should post in projects!

Re: First coupe - 09/12/2012 19:59

Age 23. Wanted one for years (been around Italian cars my whole life) but never considered it a sensible choice for my lengthy commute (though im sure it would cope with it).

Then discovered I could get one on a classic policy and it still puts a smile on my face every time i drive it. laugh

Re: First coupe - 10/12/2012 00:01

Bought my first coupe in 2008 when I was 18, a speed red 20v vis. As far as normally aspirated coops go, the sound this car made was unforgettable.

Now 4 years and 3 coops later (you could say, I have the bug laugh ) I'm the proud owner of my beloved portofino 20vt....think i'll keep this one for a while im kind off in love with it biglaugh
