Who's done the fastest top speed in a Coupe?

Drag strip or runway.

I managed 175mph at Bruntingthorpe with quite a bit more to go, but was afraid my tyres would pop so backed off.

my old coupe 160 with nothing left my new one 150 and then the back window blew out so no more high speed runs :-(

Done the meter out (+ 260km/h) several times on Autobahn with acceleration still, but as you; backed off every time - due to light steering feel and scary high revs/boost..

ive managed 164mph on a road angel in Germany!
there was not a lot left in it i think..

the steering going light is a weird feeling.

Have never done a straight line sprint - but I have seen 155 at Goodwood.

I have hit 250km/h and backed off because I dropped my testicles somewhere along the way.

With 220 bhp I very much doubt that!!

down hill with a wind behind the car...... and u know where the wind is coming from

never say never over top speed .... i had a Fiat cinq sporting so called top speed 94mph and i had 112mph going down hill .... a steep hill and that was with a hand held GPS telling me how fast i was going ... the speedo was on its way for going round to the start.... and that was a 9.5 sphincter factor on the rectum scale never again

My speedometer only goes up to 160mph ......

I almost entered a full-blown VMax even, but baulked at the £200 cost

Would definitely like to try it though, just to understand what the car feels like flat out. Despite my power, I've only ever had about 150 out of it on an airfield day (although that was at the end of a 1km straight from a standing start)

I've done the uk legal limit. A massive 70mph +/- 10%. Honestly.

I was cruising along quite happily and I saw a red thing appear in the mirror. I gunned it. He kept it coming and so did I, faster and faster we went..

52 mph on the back of a recovery truck last Thursday. Hated every minute of it especially when it pulled outside my house with the neighbours watching.

~145 mph for me. The Continental GT in front just kept on going though.

I managed 176mph on the Döttinger Höhe straight of the Nürburgring last year. There was a Lotus Esprit V8 in front of me so there was considerably reduced wind resistance. The Esprit must have been easily doing over 180mph. The scary thing is the Coupe was still pulling and I started panicking that I was going to lose control. A Nissan GT-R came from behind and smashed into my side which sent me spinning out of control off the track and straight into a wall. I haven't played on Gran Turismo 5 online since.

More likely, it'll be due to a (signficantly) raised rev-limit.

Barbz has a 5 speeder and so have I.

Trappy you're right, it's due to a raised rev limit, not the gearbox.

Flea said with the gearing and revs, I could most likely do close to 200mph.

Isn't the 5 speed box geared for 186mph? It would be interesting to find out in reality.

I think it's 173 on the standard 6800rpm limiter, but not completely sure.

The 5-speed on the 16vt is exactly 40km (24,85mph?)pr 1000 rpm

I did 31 mph the other day then the auxiliary belt warning sounds came on (the one fitted in my head )
I eased of to 29 mph
Nobody told me when you buy a coupe you get a free years worth of paranioa with it .

Just for comparison: some years ago, in the 16v with the original chip and no tweaks, driving through Germany (where in spite of what people think, there are plenty of speed limits on the autobahns)... I managed an honest 136mph on the flat, and one hundred miles in an honest hour, obeying all the speed limits and road works.
