Am I going too far when......... - 10/03/2016 09:11
I decided to take the coop to drive to work today.
Got a concrete floor in the garage and I've noticed I keep getting concrete dust foot prints on the floor mats.
So thinking should I paint the garage floor to stop that dreaded dust getting on my floor mats.

Paint, but be prepared for 4 bald patches to appear over time, matching the footprint of the tyres. Maybe better preparation, fresh concrete or reapplying paint is the answer. I need to do mine again, it got all messy when an extension was built above it.

I don't know, but is there not a sealant for concrete that you can spray on or something?? Maybe this helps?

Think yourself lucky, i've just moved to Rocester in staffs and am now having a million starlings flying in formations crapping all over my coupes every night at dusk ! Not funny at all.

I have axeminster in my garage lol!
Also fit a strip of carpet along the garage wall at door height. It allows you to touch the wall without damaging the paint on your door (unless you have a double garage and space is not an issue)

I've got some 10mm thick sound deadening foam stuck to the wall where the door is.
That versaroll looks good.
I might try the carpet in the garage for now as I've got new carpets going in Friday and will have some left overs.

Paint should be fine. I've used it on my concrete shed floor and it's fairly robust.
It is great for keeping the dust down too.
My plan is to clear the garage this year and shoe-horn the Coupe in.

My garage is carpeted
I don't keep a car in there, just the children.

Good idea. Keep the Coupe in the lounge.

Carpeted? You'll spoil them. Next you'll be telling us you've got light in there.

As there's power in the garage, yes.
And I know their names

And, pray, what is wrong with Child 1 and Child 2 as names? It was good enough for me and my brother Child 3a(i)

Simon, use concrete seal. I'm just waiting for the weather to reach 15c plus, & then I'm doing my floor. Won't peel or flake off like paint eventually does.
Originally I was going to paint, but was told about this concrete seal.

Years ago I used factory floor paint to seal a dusty garage floor. it was unmarked when I sold that house.
It was amazing just how much water came off the car overnight after a rainy drive, previously it just soaked into the concrete and disappeared.

So you must be a twin, 3b, from a first marriage, with two elder brothers.....

Versaroll garage floor covering, available in Costco:
Or coin stud rubber flooring, 6 mm thick. Good enough for sports centres, good enough for my garage.

Painted my floor, then added 10mm rubber flooring on top, to finish off in places carpet. I use my garage as an office which means my deck faces my lovely yellow plus. Nice talking point when customers turn up to have a car in the office!

some good advice in all of the above. I painted my garage floor due to the very reason the OP states. 2 coats of factory floor paint, I have a double so managed half at a time which broadly avoids patches in gloss / coverage. never been a problem in 2yrs, though my (SORN / dead) coupe is only rolled out occasionally for loft access.
I use 4 doormats for the places where the tyres park, I had heard that hot tyres can stick to paint if left for a while.
am going to paint the walls this spring, am planning Italian-flag repeats on every 3 breeze-blocks. now that is going too far...
