Can you fit a turbo straight on the 20v,2.0 non turbo model or are the ecus ext different? Thank you

In theory yes. But the additional parts you'd need to change and modifications you'd have to make would work out five times the amount of buying a turbo in the first place.

It would have to be a very low-pressure turbo, as the static compression ratio of the non-turbo is way too high for forced induction.

To make it work reliably, you'd also have to change:

Exhaust valves
Spark plugs
injectors
Sump (for turbo oil return)
Machine an oil pickup for the turbo oil feed
exhaust manifold
exhaust downpipe
fuel pump
coilpacks (maybe)
Full remap

....and after all that, you would probably still not have a car that drives as nicely as a stock 20VT

Yours is P reg? So early type NA. Best things to do is get a plug n play chip from flea ( £50 ish) a decent cat back exhaust, and some good springs and shocks. Those items transform the NA.
With a decent exhaust alone the growl of the 20v will never get boring

Basically you need to swap the complete engine with accessories/turbo/manifold/exhaust, ECU, EBV, atmospheric pressure sensor + wiring loom to engine bay.

Easier to sell the NA and buy a turbo.

Don't forget the shocks and springs, brakes, hubs, steering arms and rack...

Not that I'm trying to discourage you. It's certainly possible. But the work involved makes it a real labour of love.
