Widget connection cable Help - 20/09/2018 18:31

Hello, I Purchased this widget of ebay, but it only came with the red wire in the picture, I assume itīs the switched power wire, but It didnīt come with the cable that connects to the obd port in the engine bay. Does anyone have pictures of the cable Iīm missing and the connections of it to the widget and obd port? I have to make a cable so I can connect it. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the identical widget (except for "11" instead of "39" on the USB connector).

You need an AMP Superseal 3 way male connector with male pins, like this, and suitable length (1m for RHD, 3-4m for LHD?) of 3 way cable. The cable I have is 240V mains cable suitable for low power lighting etc., the individual wires are 1.5mm diameter including the insulation, the smallest size to be a good fit inside the yellow seals (although the connector I have does not have any seals).

The AMP 3 way connector housing has numbers 1, 2 and 3 marked on the end where the wires enter. Using the standard wire colours of mains cable in the UK (same as Portugal?) they are 1-blue, 2-green/yellow and 3-brown.

At the widget end, the red wire is already in position 1 (of 4) and the others are 2-green/yellow, 3-blue and 4-brown.

I can upload some pictures that will help if the above is not clear.

Thank you very much DaveG, I think I have some of those connectors (somewere in the garage, and have some wiring looms I can cannibalise with those size wires. But if you could upload pictures of it, even better.

Carlos,

The unit you have is configured for 20v or 20vt. If you need it for a 16 you will need to attach it to a 20 in order for the communications to work so you can change it.

If that's the case, please ask here and I'll talk you through it.

Dave has it correct. The red lead should be fed from a switched ignition circuit - i.e. one which turns on only when the ignition is on.

The other three leads are wired as he describes to the connector he points to on ebay. The unit is live only when the ignition is on, and the remote plug is correctly inserted to provide the ground.

To change the display of the unit, you will require a USB A-B cable and a terminal program for your computer.

All the gory details are here - check the FAQ at the bottom: http://www.nailed-barnacle.co.uk/coupe/emu.html

Hi, it's for a 20vt so it should be fine. I've printed every manual I could find of the widget, including the electronic diagram lol. Going to make the cable during this week, and going to connect it next weekend. Thank you very much for your help. Soon will post the updates to the project of the LE1426.

Best regards
