A specialist appreciation thread - 02/03/2019 13:05

I just want to say I've personally never been able to use any of the forum/club specialists due to living far away from them, but I can still appreciate the work they do to keep Coops on the road.

No doubt there will be capable mechanics across the UK and indeed the world who may not be Coop specialists but are nonetheless able to use their skills and initiative to do a professional job.

But when you're stood there at a garage, on a cold morning, with dry and cracked knuckles, trying to get something straightforward (for a Coop specialist) fixed and you've got a wheezing mechanic with a bad cold who has never worked on Fiat Coupes, dripping snot all over your engine bay, while being told by the overconfident owner (who has, at best, an okay track record with your Coupe) what to do, you find yourself thinking, "Hmm, you know, the new Ford Mondeo does look quite a bit like an Aston Martin."

Thank you specialists! thumb

Having this weekend ventured under my coup-and seen yet more damage to the floor, caused no doubt by monkey tyre fitters putting the jacks anywhere- I can only echo your thoughts.

You get what you pay for - I guess - but experience with and care for the Coupe are hard to find.

There's not too many of them left now either- so a rarity.

I echo the thoughts here- lucky enough to live close to a specialist who I take Doris to, but it is all the other things they do as well- like advice and help sometimes at a moments notice or taking a call in the middle of the nights that sets them above and beyond.

After years of paying local numpties who inevitably jacked it up where ever they fancied, wrecking the sills in the process, I decided the 2 and a half hour drive to my 'local' specialist was worth it.

I can’t praise the coupe specialists enough.

It’s great we have folk on this forum who are willing to help us knumpties in keeping our coupes going with their knowledge and passion.

I have been taking mine to Fcss for many a year and thrilled she’s still going.

There have been plenty of times i’m sure a ‘regular’ garage would have tried to persuade me she needed masses of work by just not understanding the problem. Joe alway seems to be able to just fix the bit that’s needed (and he has a raft of spares) so you don’t get that ‘oh, we’ll need to change all that’ line you often get at garages.

I’m also the proud owner of a crinkley bottomed coupe thanks to kwick fix jacking bozos!! Recently discovered that some one in the past has been using the seat mounting base plates to try and hammer out the floor dents!! What are these people like!!

I agree, Roger and Joe saw me through 15 years of ownership; took away all of the stresses of ownership.
