Fiat coupe VT6 on ebay

Fiat coupe VT6 on ebay - 01/09/2020 13:43

Took a train up North to look at a sprint blue VT6 advertised on eBay for £7995.
Nice looking car at first glance, good iplus wheels without kerb damage and good spec tyres. Low mileage and two owners but some issues to take note of.
Overdue cambelt change, clutch biting high but not slipping
AC not working
Speedo not reading mph correctly.
Brakes felt poor, lots of effort but not sharp enough in my opinion
Central locking button internally not working
Alarm fobs missing, disconnected?
had some paint work done on rear quarter panel which was sign of possible damage repair.
Screws to sill covers rusted through and some signs of rust on door shuts.
Decided to walk away and not make a bid. Suggested to the dealer that price too high given issues.

Think my NA has spoilt me smile

Just got back home and happy I made the right decision. For a dealer who deals in classic cars I was surprised how laid back they were with their “ what do do expect with a 20 year old car” response. It will be interesting to see where it turns up and what works the new owner ends up having to complete.

A great example of head over heart, for that kind of money you should be nitpicking about the dust at the back of the air vents and not much else!

It does seem to be the stock answer from classic car traders and Fiat Coupés nowadays, I've inspected 2x this year at different locations, both were over priced and stated being "recommissioned" which it fact means they've had new belts, tyres, refurbished rims and a polish rolleyes

I'd be looking at a private enthusiast sale rather than the Trade especially steering well clear of non-specialist 'classic' car dealers, you would expect if they state fsh it would at least have some fresh belts.

If you're going to shell out good strong money and deal with the Trade what about JBTs Jap Coupe imports.....just looked £15K for an electric blue Plus!

Save for the lurid interior this could be worth the rail fare
