So I've decided to use these folks just to give the car a once over (Wife won't get into a second hand car till its been 'professionally' inspected!?!)

Fingers crossed,

....well there are an awful lot of people happy to tell you they are professional...hopefully that keeps your wife happy wink

Hope the coupe is ok.

I'm sure you don't need to get it professionally inspected, the wife doesn't need to drive it after all wink

Just collected the car...

On my gosh, what nice people! They looked over the car, put it on the diagnostic and ended up confirming my suspicious of a leaky exhaust manifold is the cause of my engine bay start up smoke....and only charged me for the replacement coolant reservoir cap!

I'll be going back there for a belt change next year!

On and there was a 20V sprint blue (on a T plate) and a pale (moon?) blue 20vt on a W plate in for a battery change as I collected.

I bet that increased your confidence in MDZ Italtec by at least 60%. laugh

They don’t, already asked!

The remove the drive shafts and shuffle the engine block in the bay...

Just to update this thread.

Finally pulled my finger out and got the coupe booked in for a belt change with MDZ and I was really, really impressed with them.

Top job, they identifed the timing was out (previous belt change was done by mariking up the pullies, not with the 'cam locking blocks' even showed me pics he'd take during the change, along with the old parts). Also picked up the rocket cover was weaping oil (and the source of my ever growing oil 'foot print' on the drive!).

Runs soooooo much better now, and the final smile was the price, very, very reasonable - not your typicaly Surrey prices!

I will be going back to tghem for the MOT and a few other bits that are outstanding!

PS - they also do non-italian cars, there was a rather tasty Mk.2 Escort having an engine rebuild in when I collected the coupe!

@ Mod - you can close this thread now if you like wink
