Today had a mix of highs and lows, Coupe coaxed out of the garage for its mot and was idling happily on the drive whilst checking tyre pressures and then switched off to put stuff away and then she would not start. No obvious warning lights or other clues, 5 minutes later turned the key and off we went. She ran fine and passed the mot with no issues and the tester parked her up. Having collected my test cert got back in the car and same issue only this time the injector light stayed lit.
Tried a hard reset after taking some advice from Joe at FCSS but still nothing. Waited 20 mins turned key and started as if no problem. So drove straight to my local mechanic for some investigation. Never had this before so will be interested to find out what’s up.

Crank sensor?

Possibly Simon, that was Joes first suspicion. It’s intermittent though which is odd.

If the crank sensor is 5+yrs old I'd renew it to rule it out, I'd also bypass the yellow connector of death if it hasn't been done already.

Yes good starting point joe, not sure I am aware of the bypass method of the YCOD! Any tips or is it in the how to
?

Can't help with your problem but sympathise with the sentiment, that is so coop, one minute you're up the next you're down, and they wonder why we're all paranoid!

I'll find the how to or take some pics to show which connector needs by passing.

That would be helpful thanks Joe. New crankshaft sensor ordered so hopefully will fix the fault once fitted. Check for any fault codes but came up as zero.

So the crankshaft sensor was the issue it seems and my coupe is all back together and will be picking it up tomorrow. Thanks for the support all smile
