That's great news Louis, let's hope there's nothing too serious going on and you can spend the summer driving it rather than waiting for it to come out of AutoItalia!

Great to see. My portofino coupe I put back on road at start of April and driven it a couple of times and still as sweet to drive as ever 😊

Dug my Porto out for April too cool
Sadly I have a couple of issues arising. the main of which is a slight misfire after a longish drive.

Echo Morrison's comments Louis - nice coupe combo mate and here's to lots of fun packed miles for the future thumb

Hope you get sorted soon Brilly smile

Yeah it’s one of my favourite colour combos I was putty in sellers hands when I first bought it, I also really like them in the darker Metallic blue, or ink black, I was wondering do you guys prefer Coupes with or without the body kit? And if you had a choice would you take an LE or a Plus model

Re: Just got my Coupe out of storage - 13/04/2021 12:45

There are opinions that the earlier models withstood the ravages of tinworm more successfully than pluses or LE's.

My 1996 model has a full bodykit which I think works great, even if the lowered suspension puts the additions perilously close to the ground on occasions!

Advantages of the later models would be better seats and a sixth gear which sadly only the former is relatively easy to add to an early type.

Personally, I prefer the more restrained look - without the body kit.
However, my younger self would have thought very differently, as I did the body kit thing thirty years ago with a factory fitted Zender kit and wheels on my Mk2 VW GTi! smile

As they say "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!".

Certainly a six speed gearbox would be a nice addition, but a rust free body would, I suggest, hold sway over all else. laugh
Plus seats in good condition would also tick my box. Compared to modern cars, the standard items provide little lateral support.

I prefer the non body kit look - more restrained and smoother look.= but each to their own. Not had any problems since put my coupe back on the road. Only issues had last year was a slick oil leak on egine and a fuel injection problem after having the timing belt done but the garage it no charge after paying so much for timing belt to be done.

Yeah I thank i prefer non body kit, but it would be nice to have a mint Plus model for them days you want to show off, lol

Re: Just got my Coupe out of storage - 20/04/2021 10:20

Standard Body, with plus wheels are what makes it for me.

When first I bought my Coupe, I spent some time looking for what to me was the "right" model- a late 20vt 6 speed, with the plus wheels, but without the bodykit.

Push button start. And white dials in side were also all on the list.

But the Plus body kit does not do it for me. Maybe an LE-as I always tell people -you never see red leather seats when your driving!! :-)

Have to say the Scotty's or an Ink Black always catch my eye. I've never seen recaro's in tan leather- which is a shame as the Tan interior is under rated in my book.

That car, with the repainted brake discs is a good looking one!

Regards

Re: Just got my Coupe out of storage - 04/05/2021 18:19

Thanks, It wasn't a bad drive, the engine felt good, but there is a couple of problems to get sorted, the gear box feels very 'Clunky' like its not slipping into gears as good as it should, the fuel filler cap refused to stay down, after 20 mins messing around in the petrol station i just put some tape on it, i knew i was going to garage anyway and didn't want to waste anymore time, lol, there was a drone coming from the front left at about 70, wheel bearing maybe? The breaks where quite firm with not much power in them..........

And this one is complete user error, i tried to shut the bonnet but i forgot to release the fixed strut, the strut is fine it just needs a new fixing on the bonnet, so all in all a good day she got me from Southend to Norwich with no major problems smile

Oof typical coupé petulance frown

Could be a wheel bearing, does the drone reduce when you go round bends?

Rear ones go more commonly than fronts, but can sound like fronts.

Beware of Birth aftermarket bearings, many issues have been encountered with these, you're better with SKF or FAG.

Fuel filler cap - possibly the spring has gone, fix here
