Are the prices finally going up question?( again)

I've noticed a VIS advertised at nearly £4K has sold on Ebay, obviously I don't know what it went for but £4K is virtually double what most N/As are going for. I nearly bought a similar condition one for £2.5K 2years and that had less than half the mileage of this one, I know the turbos can go for serious money but maybe the N/As are on the way up.

As a VIS owner...... I do hope so!!!

Would make all the resto work a bit more satisfying too.

Better minds then mine over the years have discussed the variables that say the values are on the rise (performance, design, uniqueness, rarity, surviving numbers etc).

But then you see decent cars on the forum for sale from careful owners-not selling. And "cheap" £2-3k ish cars that look at least good on the surface selling on various car sales platform.

My £150.00 offer from webuyanycar recently was a low blow. But as a counterpoint, there have been a few "rare" Coupes on autotrader (usually electric blue or "plus" models) with low mileage selling for £10-15k plus.

I think sheer attrition rate has started to mean that values are/have risen.

The benefit of value is of course nothing behind the wheel. But it does off set the pain of the costs when maintaining one. We all now how fussy they get about being fixed!

How high/whats the base rate? Not sure. £5k for a start point? £10k for a good one? £15k for a special? Or is it £2k for a start, £4k for a good one. £9k for a custom/rare/special?

I say all this with the often repeated caveat....something is only worth what others are willing to pay for it. But it seems ALL cars have increased in value in the UK over the last two years.

I didn't buy mine for cost-I bought it as when they came out I really wanted one, but at that time had a partner who was following the Joe Biden school of economics (Spend it before your print it!) so could never get one back in the day.

I think we are still some way off buying a coop as an investment (though I've been told there is someone in Somerset with a barn full of them waiting for such a day) but it would be good if the price went someway towards the cost of maintaining them.
