Professional Paint Finishes

Professional Paint Finishes - 02/10/2006 06:42

Don't know if I can be of any use.....

We have a company that provides my company with specialist finishes such as Powdercoat and anodising

Anodising "could" be useful for items such as fuel filler caps in colours such as silver, red, blue, black, yellow etc. Will prevent further outbreaks of corrosion.

And Powdercoat for the "B" pillars for example which are starting to look a bit tired after all these years.

The items we use them for which are a mixture of aluminium, mild steel and stainless steel - the finish they produce is factory perfect.

Was wondering if anyone would be interested in this?

Hmmm, what sort of prices would they charge for powder-coating B pillars? That could be a very interesting contact you have there.............

To be honest I don't know at this stage, I'm just seeing if there is a possible need for this.

We try and keep him busy with work as much as we can but there are times when he is slack, so this would be ideal for him.

There isn't any real point in me speaking to him unless I can establish whether this is a goer. I have known and done business with him for six years now, so don't want to mess him around.

I would say that all items would have to be removed, prepared and sent directly to him. What I cannot guarantee is that you will receive back exactly the same item though if a number of the same thing were sent out at the same time.

There would have to be some way of marking the items to establish the owner.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how this may work?

Take it nobody is interested on the basis that there will have to be a bit of prep-work done first?

I just want to confirm that nothing will go through me and I will make nothing on any business that goes through to him. I just want to help him out.

Any suggestions how this could work????

Wish I could come up with suggestions jayzee because I'd like to get a quote for the B pillars and then maybe some other stuff. Powder coaters and anodisers with a good reputation seem to be a bit thin on the ground.........

I wonder if posting his details in the businesses section might help as a first step?

Good luck with it

I'd certainly be interested in getting the B-pillars and door handles back to 100% but obviously this is dependant on price and the amount (and type) or prep work to be done.

Good idea, I will give him a call and see what he says. I'll have to take my car over to him to have a look at what potentially are the bits he could work on.

Just spoken to the chap (Andy) and he's up for it!

He's based in Surrey and I'm in East Sussex, so we have agreed that I pop round to see him with my car in the next week or so. This way he can have a look at the potential parts that are likely to need re-coating and give prices.

Andy has also agreed to carry out re-furbishment/preperation prior to coating too as an option.

We just need to agree a way of marking the units (any help here would be good) so that you get back the same item you sent.

I would also suggest that various bits'n'bobbs are done in a group batch to keep costs down. Maybe a group buy?
