The 501 Club - 22/10/2006 01:25

Well an all time great, following a new thermo which is a stupendioulsy great item.

(car now warms up in 6 mins and the first time i drove home i was thinking i'd got an airlock how fast it got hot)

I achieved 501 miles on a tank, with enough to get to a garage for more.

Mix of driving too, mostly very erratic & 250 motorway miles including a 120 mph race with a police car on the M10

Ohhhhhh 6-speed

Anyone beet that????

I've done over 400 also on my 5 speed. 500? Sounds like a challenge!

Re: The 501 Club - 22/10/2006 16:54

I've done over 500 as well with my 6 speeder

Was all motorway driving back from the UK to home in 1 day. I have to say I did drive quite sensible all the way with only a few quick moments. But it's certainly possible

Re: The 501 Club - 22/10/2006 17:21

I did 500 miles on a tank when going to the Xmas dinner and back, still a good few litres left in the tank too
A new thermo makes a fantastic difference to winter warm up. As Carl says in well under 10 mins it is at full operating temp I used to freeze most of the way to work before i fitted it.

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 01:03

I always do at least 400 to a tank, i must drive too slow!

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 01:28

I normally get over 400 miles, but once that amber light starts to flicker i chicken out. I need to get a fuel can and see how far i can push it.......

Or maybe not.

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 14:19

Well I tried the Gtech 1 chip in mya car for a couple of weeks and got even better fuel consumption than standard

Whats that all about

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 14:46

I normally get 230 But I also chicken out when the petrol light comes on.

My best ever is only 310 though and that was pretty much all motorway miles.

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 15:23

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 15:23

My best ever was 270 with nearly all motorway miles! Do you all drive like girls (Stereotypical girls that is)?

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 17:07

What the hell?
I must have a very heavy right foot!
Not managed 300 miles yet out of a full tank?
Now way on the planet I would get 500?
What super fuel is that running on?

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 20:33

ah i dont though
Veg all the way baby! and that was with load in the boot as well, none of this fairy touching up of the throttle either

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 21:40

King Pleb?
You saying that you did 614 miles on 1... I said 1 Full tank?
So your car is twice as economical as mine?

Do you have a 10 speed gearbox or something?
Do you have a litte hole where you can run with your feet (like the flint stones?)

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 22:10

No- he has LPG i think!

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 22:39

He runs a diesel Xantia too IIRC.

Thus " Veg all the way "

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 22:52

500 miles means 36 mpg
614 is a whopping 44 mpg!

If you got the book numbers of
19.6 28.0 & 37.0 mpg you'd get
272 388 & 512 miles out of a tank respectively.
I average 26.5mpg so can go for 368 miles on a tank.!!

Doesn't that get a bit boring? I tend to get about 250 ish on average - a bit more if cruising. How the hell do you get 500?

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 23:44

as i said i didnt even really have to push her at all to get that and a fair bit was in traffic as well

they can do 60mpg if you sit at 60 all the way but i reckon you could squeeze more out by sitting behind a big arctic at 60 as well

yip i used veg oil on that bad boy and she loves it though i need some new pump seals as she is dribbling some of it away and overfuels on boost now and has a flat spot due to it but hopefully fix her all good soon

Re: The 501 Club - 23/10/2006 23:52

i've done liverpool to glasgow and back on a tank

Re: The 501 Club - 24/10/2006 00:04

Thats driving quite hard too.

Manages it easy.

I'd say if your only getting half, you got a problem.

Re: The 501 Club - 25/10/2006 04:20

I'm doing dual carriageway for the next three weeks and just managed 120 on a quarter of a tank!!
Quite impressed, that was at a steady 80.

Re: The 501 Club - 25/10/2006 15:09

I squeezed 410 ish miles out of a full tank this weekend 98% motorway driving with some bursts of acceleration!

M5 south bound near Weston at 11pm on Sunday = DEAD

Re: The 501 Club - 25/10/2006 16:15

Amazing!

I did 260-270 miles on £40 this weekend on a motorway run.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: The 501 Club - 25/10/2006 16:22

I only manage to squeeze about 55 litres in the tank, and with sedate driving to work, and pretty much "hell raisin" the rest of the time i get about 300 miles to £50.

I did get over 400 when i was running it in tho.

If I get more than 450 kms (280 miles) out of a tank, I consider myself to have failed.

Re: The 501 Club - 25/10/2006 22:00

i usually get 300, no turbo, so it needs a lot more full throttle action to get going.

atm im on 120 miles from 1/4, using 95ron for the first time ever, and the economy is miles better!
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: The 501 Club - 26/10/2006 00:55

hmmm...this sounds like a challenge. I got just over 450 out of my last tank - I'll have to see if I can get near 500 on the next!
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: The 501 Club - 30/10/2006 20:08

Filled her up last night and drove 140 miles, the light is now on....

...2nd and 3rd mostly, ragging the life out of it, on boost all the way.

Re: The 501 Club - 31/10/2006 17:22

OK,
Last week I did my first Motorway Run!
It really makes a massive difference!
Got Nearlly 400 miles out of the tank!

Compared to 250 around town!

Re: The 501 Club - 01/11/2006 04:10

511.2 miles today Including driving into Dublin Airport (City traffic)

Re: The 501 Club - 01/11/2006 06:53

My personal best so far is 430 ish with motorway driving and not hanging about. I do need the thermostat changed though.

My worst has been 340.

If I drove like a lunatic everywhere mid 200's I would have thought.

Run a Gtec2 and have to use super unleaded.
