Coupe Calander - 07/11/2007 18:21

Just looking for some input on the calander, since its you guys that will be buying and using it.

Should i go for an all out high gloss photoshop affair, with the best most arty pics for all the pics, or should i include some comedy into the calander? With maybe a breakdown pic or 2?

I'd love a pic of someones rear discs glowing because of leaving the handbrake on or spiders web wing mirror covered in water? Or is that best left for another occasion? Or should i make one month a collage or these kind of pics? C2D mentioned about including pics of fuel caps and the like, but should i have a little carlt icon with some oil each month to remind you to check it?

Opinions please.

Re: Coupe Calander - 07/11/2007 18:24

I like the idea of the Carl/oil icon: stick it on each Sunday \:D

Collage of the weird/unusual photos but I'm not sure about breakdown ones, unless you do a separate calendar for the turbo owners \:P

I done a course on car photography once - if you fancy a selection of my yellow 20v na drop me a massage. I quite fancy the spiders web challenge - guaranteed to mean the little blighters leave my car alone.

oo-er!! \:o

Seriously though, just my ideas of course, I think some of the obscure ideas could be good, and of course there's nothing to say you can't have more than one pic per month, if you arrange it right. Imagine a pic split in two (maybe diagonally for arty effect?!) with a 'serious' shot in one half, and your spiders web type shot in the other?!

I can see the downside though, namely that you might end up doing a jack-of-all-trades but a master-of-none, and lose all your potential buyers. IMO I think that people are either likely to buy the comedy-style one, OR they'll go for the serious one, but maybe not one which features both. Could be completely wrong of course. Personally, if I were to choose from a selection of Coupe calendars, I would be picking the one which featured the serious photography, but again it's horses for courses. Depending on time, you could do a serious one AND a comedy one, then you've got both sides sorted. For the latter, I remember seeing a really good cartoon of the Coupe, like a 'characature' of the car, which would work brilliantly. I'll do an internet search later to see if I can find it, but no doubt somebody else will already know which one I mean and beat me to it.

If you want any of those pictures I posted in that other thread then please help yourself - I've got some slightly bigger versions (about 50% bigger I think), though to be honest the bigger versions show up the limits of the camera phone and might not be quite what you have in mind. If you want me to email you any shots though just PM me an address and I'll send em over to you.

Best of luck getting it together, and whichever way you do end up doing it, count me in when it comes to buying a few \:\)

Re: Coupe Calander - 07/11/2007 19:23

I think there should be an awesome main picture for each months. But for some / all months it would be cool if you did something like, put 3 smaller ones down the right hand side, with c2d fuel cap type pictures in, or comedy coupe pictures.

Re: Coupe Calander - 07/11/2007 20:14

Judging by the popularity of last years "European" effort (it's currently still got pride of place on my office wall), a serious calender would be more popular than a comedy one.

Like the idea of a Carlt type oli reminder - might be a nice homage now that we know he's moving on. °\(

Nah ignore the splitter \:D

Tar and feather him for deserting us! Stick his face on the back page so we can pin it to a dartboard and.............errrr, Carl, has my headlight been posted yet? °\(

I like the idea of three smaller photos down the side by the way \:\)

Re: Coupe Calander - 07/11/2007 21:15

I say keep it as classy, simple and up-market as possible. I'd like to see mainly unmodified cars as the European one doesn't feature any standard coupes and some look a bit well, let's be honest, naff/chav

Re: Coupe Calander - 07/11/2007 21:19

There will be mostly un modded or tastefully modded cars. Nuthing too extreme. I think i'll go with some of the months having extra pics down the side, but im not going to detail why.

I think the little oil can might be a suggestion. \:D

Re: Coupe Calander - 07/11/2007 21:32

i think the stuff like the image for your sig is fantastic, puts all the focus onto the coop, maybe on or two pics in the 'coloured car, black and white surroundings' style would work

Re: Coupe Calander - 07/11/2007 21:33

If im being honest, a few people have mentioned about using my pic. It would need a slight photoshop but i dont wanna be biased.

Re: Coupe Calander - 07/11/2007 21:37

maybe if it was a picture of the coop looking from the front as its moving or turning a slight corner it would look amazing. But i would definatly think about using yours

A mate had a wide but short ones of just the headlights...he used it for a banner at the top of a webpage. Something like that along the bottom, with "2008 FCCUK Fiat Coupe Calendar" or similar would be cool.

Have you FCCUKers made any progress on your calendar yet?
Here's a sneak preview of the German version: clicky
As you probably have seen one or two pics of the Italian Clamour Calendar it would be nice if someone would post a snapshot of the UK-version.
Both German and Italian are up for sale already

I think smaller pics and no car twice just so more people can say "thats my car" \:\) like above one main and 3 small ones.

I like the idea of carlt oil top up thingy, little things like that make it special to this community \:\) its not as if its being sold outside of here (or is it?)

I will certainly go out my way next year for some good pics now \:\) never bothered before now \:\)

Re: Coupe Calander - 28/11/2007 05:58

Well being as this is the first one, we'll try and take on board as many things as poss, but due to time constaints etc, we may not have a chance to get everything we want done.

As mentioned, if this is successful, next year will be the one to watch for.
