Smashed in driver's window

Smashed in driver's window - 16/12/2009 09:32

Quick question:
Some scrote smashed my window in last night. Is it best to just go to Autoglass, or go through the insurance - I've got 5yrs ncb protected.

Also, if anyone else has had experience of this, was it fixed on the same day or was there a wait to order in the glass?

Cheers.

I had my window put in on the bravo, Called the insurance people who called autoglass for me, they then called me to arange a time and date to have it done.
Having also been unlucky to have had all the glass broke on that car at some point, If AG cant do it there and then, they usually have some where secure they can put the car under the dry and lock and key.

It shouldn't effect your NCB, thats if you have glass cover of coarse! it will just be a 50-60 charge

sorry to here about your window

in the mean time, get some tape out and a bin liner and take up the area, stop water snow getting in cry

I know the feeling all to well, I had my car looted though :(, second time around with the windscreen, some young farmer chucked a bottle of piss out of his window at 60mph and hit my car coming the other way grr

he got what was coming to him law wise however, I never saw a penny of the compo though

Yeah, its got the binliner look right now. Nothing was taken, nothing to take really. Just a right ol'PITA.

There's another coopster who parks in the same street sometimes, dunno if you're on here, T-reg Red LE, it was right where you had parked yours during the day yesterday, so take care.

If it's the door window it might be easier to get one of Joe? Don't know how hard it is to change though confused

Easy to do yourself, and the online manual shows how.

Even easier to get the insurers to do it although you'll pay the excess, around £60-70 frown

It's very easy to change, I have a spare one in my garage

which is what is in progress right now. Good to know glass cover covers not just the windscreen though.

Sorry to hear this. I've got a spare one too, passenger side, if that's any good.

Thanks for the offers but its all being taken care of right now - they've had to order one in, so I've to pick it up tomorrow.

How come everyone has spare windows?

Well, you never know when you'll need one...

So you come across a coupe with the door unlocked, two minutes with a screwdriver to pull the glass out, sprinkling of pre-broken glass on the seat, sorted and no-one any the wiser!

There's a whole *conspiracy* of black-market drop glasses out there... mwahahahahah!

Oh, time for my pills? How kind!

I've a spare one for each side! Shame I couldn't get the rears off before the coupe killer came to collect the shell.

It's a fiddly job to fit but as you're sorted now, thats not an issue.

You'll be finding glass in that car forever now!

No other damage I take it? Just some scrote with no grey matter by the sound of it.

No other damage, nothing taken. In fact, whoever did it didn't even open the door - the glass only fell out when I opened the door. Which raises a suspicion about a little road rage incident I ended up on the end of the other week.
