What do you put in your hole?

What do you put in your hole? - 26/02/2011 20:25

Next week I will take delivery of a Nomad twin pod.

The question is what could I populate my second pod with?

Of course, My boost gauge will go in one but I can't decide on 'tuther.

I know that fitting an oil temperature gauge is out of the questiondue to its complexity.

I was thinking if all alse fails use it as a mint imperial holder or put a backlight picture of Marco in there?

Suggestions please, both sensible and otherwise.

Most go air flow meter don't they? Personally, I'd get an outside air temp gauge, don't know if this is possible though?

You could start a Green Bogey ball and store it there while you add to it along the way.

That'a an absolutely outrageous suggestion, what's t the point of that................?

I mean, it'd take him ages to build up anything worthwhile unless he's got some undisclosed medical problem.

I feel sure you ought to be able to get a 2-1/4 inch accelerometer to measure acceleration, braking, and turning forces - but I'm damned if I can find one (unless you want an aircraft type which goes -4g to 10g!)

If you're running a decent amount of boost, one of these would be brilliant, especially if you're still running a small-ish downpipe

User-configurable, with low and high alarms - it even changes dial colour when a pre-set level is reached - useful for knowing when you're closing in on EGT limits

Trust Nigel to try and spoil things be being sensible and on topic.

It's just not good enough.

AFR would be my choice though

Thank you all for the suggestions.

At the moment an EGT gauge is edging it.
Has anyone fitted an Exhaust gas temperature kit and if so how difficult was it?
According to websites of sellers, you need to fit the sender probe as near to the engine as possible. I'm guessing that with a turbo car this would need to be in the downpipe immediatly after the turbo?

Neil - can you make a circular widget?

Or I'll go for the mini aquarium - this doubles up as an ornament and G force meter laugh

What about the Bogey ball. You have to think outside the box. Imagine a big Coupe meet. Everybody could add to it.

Maybe I should have gone for a triple Pod and then I could have used the bogey ball to dip in the sherbet laugh hurl

IIRC, an EGT sensor needs to be ahead of the turbo, so the most logical place would be on the manifold, just above the turbo flange
