Mine came with a supersprint from the cat back!!

Happy New Year everybody!!

I've just peassed the DOE emissions with my Land Rover Defender Td5 with a straight through system without a cat I'd say the NCT car test will be tougher.
Let us know how you get on.

Re: Ireland - 11/01/2006 08:29

Most of them in Ireland are in Dublin!! I've seen a 6 or 7 parked at work, outside houses ,etc
But was the first time I ever met one driving on the road.

I'm in the west and as far as I know I have the only one in Mayo.
Damn my sercet is out!!

There's a chance it was the same one, I was talking to an owner that had a met red '00 in autotrader, who was from Carlow too!!?.
It isn't Geoff's one bacause Fishy Dave bought it and it's over in the U.K now!

The last headcount before the site went down had about 16-18 i think.

Nice job on the wheels by the way!!!

Re: Ireland - 11/01/2006 08:44

Mine in Mayo,

Re: Ireland - 11/01/2006 09:08

If any of you guys are interested the Northern Ireland Italian Motor Club (NIIMC) meet on the 1st Tuesday of every month in Lisburn, just outside Belfast. There are 3 coupe owners and lots of other members are previous Coupe owners. Im in the process of getting yellowcoupe from here to join. Its £10 membership for the year and you get 15% of Fiat parts from Mervern Stewart (Fiat Dealer). This year we are going to try and get to more shows. I know its probably a bit far for you guys but its a good place to talk Coupes face to face.

Link to site.

Don't forget me

98 20v Turbo (Speed Red) (Living in Greystones but is in the IFSC Dublin every day.

There is also a 98 20v Turbo (Sprint Blue) parked in the IFSC most days.

I know John Linnane motors owner (Fiat Specialist) owns a 97 20v Turbo (wine colour).

I'll keep an eye out but I'm sure there is an INK Black (LE) floating about the IFSC also.

The Northern Ireland Italian Motor Club ( Niimc)
and the Irish section of the Alfa Romeo owners club are looking at organising an all Ireland Italian Car meet this summer.

What do you think??? should we have our Irish Coupe meet at the same time??
Your views please
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: Ireland - 18/01/2006 01:27

No question about it, the Coupe meet should be arranged for the same date. The more people that are going the easier it would be to get people motivated to go. If its not to the summer I'll definatly be going as the Coupe should be well finished by then.

I was replacing my clutch slave cylinder today and went to Barrable FIAT to pick the part up.

I was discussing the possible difficulty of bleeding the system with a mechanic and he said "come back here and I'll show you something". Excuse me????, I felt like saying.

Low and behold, he was actually in the middle of replacing a slave cylinder on a '99 Red LE.
I thought it was a pretty big coincidence considering how few are in Ireland.
The LE has 70K on her and is a beauty. Seemingly its first owner was Michael Barrables wife and the current owner bought it from them.

Strokestown isn't much. You'd be better off with Belvedere in Mullingar if houses/gardens are your thing. Birr Castle & telescope are also a good day out.

Hi everyone.
The Northern Ireland Italian Motor Club (NIIMC) are hosting a show on the 9th of June for all things Italian powered.

It is to be held at Transport Museum at Cultra (just outside Belfast)
We should also get a reduced price for entry to the actual Museum.

"ALL" types and "ALL" years of Italian vehicle are very welcome to attend. All we ask is that if you intend to go please drop a post on this thread or on the forum at http://www.niimc.net as it will greatly help give us an idea of figures.

This is our BIG event so please put it in your diary and book the day off work if you have to, so you can support us.

Last years event brought over 80 cars from across Ireland. Also any non italian car etc of particular interest will be allowed to be shown if prebooked via the forum show thread.
You will be made very welcome.

Could have been me back in Nov 06' if it was the bumper would have been held on with insulation tape,,,,,i consider that a substantial step up from bailer twine. Mine is a 98 D 20v red recently painted and stuck back together, new timing belt etc looking foward to the next 50k.

Are you parked on the north mall???? Nice dark Grey le parked there often.

Also a blue 20v I used to meet on the Douglas road in the mornings.

Another red 20v 98-C **** West Side of the City, we have waved, its too much of a coincidence.

Yellow coop in mallow passed me on the mallow road month’s back.

coop spotting is officially the new thing in cork like

Or... try PM'ing somebody like yellow_coop as he is based in L.Derry and judging by the 1485 posts he's made and the fact that his coop is modded, I sure he knows a bit about the Coupe! He might be able to direct you to a good garage that's more local to you.

Ha! I passed him again today in town and now its on Irish Plates. I think that makes it 5 or possibly 6 coupes in in my part of the Country.

Re: Ireland - 15/08/2008 09:49

Now this is a record!!!

Up until last week I had only ever passed 1 other coupe on the road in about 4 years. I live in an area where coupes are a rare as hen's teeth.

Last night on my way into town I passed a red coupe (think it was the one I passed last week too- see above post)and a minute later a Sprint Blue Coupe (might have been CollieD's coupe). Then I turned off the road to get to a local shop and I passed a parked up Silver 20VT and within a couple of hundred yards I passed a house with a Metallic red 20VT parked in the driveway (think that one belongs to gwoods).

So that's 4 coupes spotted in a 3-4 minute interval!!

Nice

yes that was me and I saw you coming too. Seen the pictures of your coupe at the Norin Iron meet. Yours looked well.

CollieD,

Only been to Drogheda to order parts. I use Damien Moran Motors on Hill Street in Dundalk for servicing. The guy is very genuine. He used to service my 16v n/a. He just did my turbo replacement. He likes my Coupe. He doesn't mince his words re: cars he doesn't like but I trust him 100%.

I need to go to him on Monday as all the coolant just pissed out of my engine this evening and I'm beached on my driveway!!!

Hi Colin,

The Leccy Blue (if it's the one with the PIU front bumper) belongs to a guy in Dromiskin (he also has a silver 20v turbo on a 98 D Reg which he doesn't appear to drive anymore).

He's not the forum afaik and he's never waved back to me on the road either. I was once parked right beside him in town, me in my old Blitz Blue 16v and he was sitting in his silver 20vt and he looked right through me!

Shame

Re: Ireland - 22/02/2010 13:14

Hi Karlos,

Would not be able to make this yet. I have fitted my Bilstein suspension but need to get a few other things sorted yet namely;
Tyres
Lower subframe brace (cant source correct bolts)
Camber bolts to adjust the camber
Thermostat changed.

I would be hoping to have car ready for Easter sometime. Just cant seem to find time at the moment for the car.

Re: Ireland - 23/02/2010 08:42

CollieD, how's the new shock's feel compared to the old ones? Did you have standards in?

I'd love to see the difference as Coupes are few and far between up here.

I'm planning a Rolling Road power check in Randalstown, AI Autosport on the 6th March. I'l be aiming to give the track day a go on the 14th as it'l just finish off my front Toyo's I think and I'll be ordering more from Camskill there after.

By the way, the fella at AI Autosport used to have a 20v Turbo Coupe so he should know his stuff. Here's hoping it all goes to plan!! laugh

Re: Ireland - 23/02/2010 13:24

Karlos,

I had standard suspension to start with. I found the ride pretty good and the handling when pushed was not confidence inspiring but was still very good.

However, I then fitted the Eibach lowering springs. This eliminated much of the body roll and left it nice and smooth around corners and r'bouts etc. However on bumpy roads the ride was pretty harsh.

Now I have the "preferred combo" for the coupe being the Eibach and the Bilsteins B6's. This definitely has reduced the springiness at high speed on bumpy roads and improved the overall handling. I have to say it is pretty rough over the bumps though. I dont think the toe in has been done correctly though!

I want to get camber bolts and use 1 degree negative camber to improve turnin and then get the four wheel alignment carried out.

Then I hope to track the car and really see what this set up has to offer.

Re: Ireland - 24/02/2010 12:36

Well here is Trackskills @ Kirkistown Dates there's one a month so plenty to choose from and time to prepare for it.

Camber bolts would be an Idea and a garage close by me has a laser set up 4 wheel alignment machine.
I think my front end is under dampened so B6's may be my next purchase if we ever see better weather again.

Perhaps we can get a track outing later this year.

Re: Ireland - 24/02/2010 22:01

Karlos,

definitely be up for a few as I should have the set up for it now. Thats the plan for this year anyhow.

You won't be seeing my 00D Burgundy 20VT+ any more around Louth. Instead, you might be spotting a 99D 20VT Ink Black instead.

The Burgundy Coupe got hit from behind last weekend so it is now a Category C (uneconomical to repair), >$7k damage to the back but still drivable. This is the second coupe that this has happened to me on.

I picked my third coupe (Ink Black) on Friday night - 81k on the clock and very well maintained. The main thing that she needs is track rod ends, everything else seems to be ok.

(Before anyone asks, both a friend and I have 20vt's so we will be using the cat-c coupe for our own personal spare parts department.)

Mick.

Hi Mccmick,

there are a few around here. There is probably four or so around the town. Only two fccuk members that I know of, Myself and daithi.

Our meets be good craic and its amazing the little things you can get sorted when the lads come together.

Usually 4-7 coupes. As I say the more the merrier.

I am really thinking of tagging along on the lancia meet in April. Love to see and be among some of the great lancia's. Anthing Italian is welcome. Details on Octane and Lancia forum.

Hi mccmick!

So that was your Burgundy 20VT+ I'd seen around town over the last couple of years. You've probably spotted my Black LE around Drogheda as I work there and it's nearly always parked on Bolton Street or Liam Leech Tce/Patrick Street during the day.

I thought he'd disappeared off the face of the earth. Glad to hear he's still Cooping around.

Spotted a filthy dirty 97 KE reg Portofino 20v on the M1 northbound heading towards Newry.

Geez, I don't think I've ever seen such a dirty Coop! The rear numberplate was illegible as it was covered in dried-in muck.

Perhaps it had just been off-roading?

Was that the day before your post? We headed up to Belfast that day but curiously didn't see another porto matching that description.
coat

It had of course been washed just the previous day, but we live off-road.

Make that three - another sprint blue 20vt, he's cornering the market smile

This doesn't really count as a spot, but there's a 98-D dark red wreck in a garage near Kingswood off the N7. Front end crash in the snow, apparently, followed by someone else clipping the back of it; intercooler mangled and the whole front end pushed back. I've dibs on the wheels and a few other bits, but it might be useful to someone else - is there a better place to post pointers like this?

Hey everybody, not been on here in a long time but still have and love my sprinty, which is covered in dust, need to get the finger out and get her back on the road in the new year. A few months back I refurbished turbo and replaced radiator, oil cooler, oil cooler pipes, fixed manifold (not cracked, 1 stud sheared, another missing!) powder coated rocker cover and radiator bracket, looks great! Next is replace shocks & springs and stick her back on the road.

I'm on my second 20vt, Speed Red 99 D reg. My previous was a 96 LH reg, which proved to be too far gone to rescue. My current coupe was a daily till 2015, was 180k on the clock, still pulling great. Based in Sligo were there is also a recently refurbished 20v na, speed red also in circulation.

Re: Ireland - 30/05/2020 09:56

Hi Guys,

nice to see some coupes left on the road here. Mine has been in storage for last 3 years and cannot wait to get it out. It was meant to be in garage at Easter for a full health check etc. but Covid has slowed things up.

In the good old days we used to have meets of around 6 or 7 coupes. They are a very rare sight on the road now.

Welcome to the forum. Its a great place for all coupe related stuff and a very helpful and friendly group.

C.
