Low Temp. and now coolant leak

Low Temp. and now coolant leak - 19/04/2014 16:09

Well after a couple or 3 drives since unsorning my coupe this week I suspected the Thermostat or Sensor was faulty as temps were a bit low. Then when retreiving something from car this afternoon I noticed pink coolant in the passenger footwell. cry
These were first drives since having new Radiator fitted so hoping it might just be loose hose as far as coolant leak is concerned. I don't have time too look at it until Tuesday now as we have a busy easter weekend rolleyes but would appreciate any advice in meantime.

Im guessing its the Heater Matrix behind the dashboard. Mine went a few months back. Had a nice wet/smelly passenger carpet. It was the first job I had on my coupe and wasn't easy!

At the risk of sounding obvious, leak inside the car suggests heater matrix or burst hose again obviously inside car.

John at JM is still waiting on my new matrix that was supposed to have arrived for Thursday rolleyes
So if you want he can use it for yours - I'm getting mine done in August along with brake callipers before Spa smile

Thanks Chaps,
Yes kinda thought is was heater related and hopefully the reason my temps were out of normal range.

Have taken you up on your offer Simon and called JM this morning and then took the Coop in. Hopefully it will be sorted today.

Erm, again at the risk of sounding obvious & facetious...The fix is indeed a new matrix. Pricewise, well a little searching on the web may help or contact some of the specialists on here.

I'll leave it at that.. smile

eurocarparts £20 at the moment. Although it isn't magneti marelli like it says.

I did it myself recently.

Hard to judge the repair when you explain it to someone else. If you are ok with fixing coupe problems it will be fine. I thought it was an 'involved' but easy repair really.
I got a new metal backplate from fiat but was not required.
You need new sealing rubber rings (from fiat, or if not diy shop)

For extra peace of mind I used PTFE tape aswell for the connection.

All fine

indeed jimboy, you did sound obvious and facetious. i thought one of the benefits of a car forum was to save time trawling the net for an answer, when a friendly member already has the answer at hand?
my first post in god knows how long and Ive just been reminded why i keep away now.
cheers.

Holy member resurrection FC, good to hear from you!

Does the carpet reek of antifreeze Dave?

If not, might be the passenger door shower screen, easy fix!

Really didn't want to cause offence fc, my attempt at obvious humor obviously fell flat, apologies. In my own defence I've felt the forum being a bit flat of late...Ah well you win some loose some.
