new silicone hose kit - 04/11/2018 21:45

Hello ,
I just bought a silicone tubing kit for my 20v turbo, with air conditioning.
the new kit consists of 8 tubes, looking at the engine I understand where to install 5, while 3 others I do not know?
Do you have any advice on how to proceed?
maybe they are tubes that go into other cars without air conditioning?
eventually I can post photos of the tubes that advance me.
how do I empty the refrigerant system?
thank you.

Dont think any of them will be for the aircon system.

I do not mean to say this, and that different versions of the engine without air conditioning have another line of tubes that go from the expansion tank to the engine.

This is the full set for 20vt with aircon :

(in no particular order) :

Top radiator
Bottom radiator
Turbo to water rail
Turbo to radiator
Rear hose to thermostat (CHOD)
Heater matrix to thermostat
Heater matrix to water rail
Throttle body to thermostat
Throttle body to header tank
Header tank to metal pipe at aircon compressor
Water rail to metal pipe at aircon compressor
For late water rail type with automatic bleed only: short extension from header tank + bleed hose to T-piece below header tank

BTW if you bought one of the very cheap chinese hose sets on Ebay then bin it and buy a proper set from JBT or Viper.

Or to make it a bit easier:

1. Rear engine hose to thermostat (CHOD)
2. Lower radiator
3. Turbo to bottom radiator
4. Turbo to water rail
5. Throttle body to thermostat
6. Water rail bleed to T-piece below header tank (only from late '98)
7. Heater matrix to thermostat
8. Header tank (or T-piece below) to metal pipe at aircon compressor
9. Heater matrix to water rail
10. Throttle body to header tank
11. Short extension from header tank to T-piece (only from late '98)
12. Water rail to metal pipe at aircon compressor
13. Upper radiator

That's all from memory so may not be 100%, please check before cutting anything. wink

Yes, various horror stories on here and pics of split hoses within a few months of fitting the cheap sets and even some not so cheap sets.

There are lots of copies about, other than the Chinese ones that Graham is referencing. I myself purchased an ebay seller based in UK that came from Poland and made in Poland. Total shite, where not even 4 wire reinforced between the silicon and collapsed often when engine was warm or hot. So its not just the Chinese ones to worry about, even EU made kits are also suspect.

In the end I purchased a Korean Made set of which to date have been faultless.

Not endorsing Viper products but if anyone is wondering what makes a good or inferior silicon hose, this might help.

Don't buy this shite, same Polish brand as I had before which had multiple failures - https://races-shop.com/fiat/55683-silicone-water-hose-fiat-coupe-20v.html

Hi everyone again,
I apologize for the delay,
this and the kit in question, I know that from the photos you can not decide if it is good or not, but now I bought it, I think the name (samco) can not be authentic, when ordered there was no reference with SAMCO.
however, they look pretty well done, they are not too soft and have a good shiny color.
mha ..... we'll see confused

If they are real Samco hoses and you paid a relatively high price compared to the usual cheap rubbish then they should be fine. If they were cheap then I would question if they are genuine.

Re: new silicone hose kit - 06/11/2018 20:14

They do not think they are real samco.
They come from China and I paid them a little.
If you had asked your opinion first, I could have saved this money.
Do you believe that in any case they are bad?

???

You bought them first and then asked the forum for advice!

Maybe if you had asked the forum first, you would have been given advice on what not to buy.

Actually, I wanted to know the exact location of some pipes.
Then the discussion on "quality" was born.
But now it's done.
I'll try anyway,
Could you tell me where to empty the plant ??

Viper / Samco are all copied just like everything else these days and some sellers will push up the fake silicon hose price for a Fiat Coupe within 10-20% of the real deal hoses, thus you feel you are buying genuine with a discount.

Its just a buyer beware scenario and buying with your eyes wide open.

Remove the cap from the header tank and take off the bottom radiator hose and the system will empty.

Hello,
I just wanted to say that I have been installing the tubes for about a month and tested for several days with an outside temperature that has even reached around 36 ° in this torrid summer.
The tubes also seem to react well to pressure and do not become too soft.
I think I was lucky.click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge
