Oil pressure release valve

Oil pressure release valve - 15/03/2019 21:32

Hi, got a big oil leak from the bolt that blanks off the oil pressure release valve on the oil pump body.

It located just above the big alu casting near the bottom pully on the oil pump casting facing front of car. It’s been tightened but still leaking. Can’t seem to find much about what lies behind the bolt ‘cap’.

If this bolt is removed can the pressure relief valve be withdrawn and cleaned/replaced or is it part of the oil pump?

Any help appreciated as changing the oil pump looks a massive job!!! Ta

Leaks from there are usually actually coming from above at the oil filter sandwich plate, where the gasket fails. Or even just a loose oil filter, but presume you've already checked that.

Graham, had undertray off today and cleaned and took a more detailed look...you were correct, the leak does indeed seems to be coming from above. Just had an oil change and new filter fitted so not the filter (as was leaking befor). Guess it could be the sandwich plate!! I’m assuming this is a pain to do? Ta

There's an old thread, but a lot of the pic links are broken now:
