Vae,Min and high rpm problems - 03/06/2019 22:04

Hi at all. I've a strange problem.
A days ago I change lambda sensor. Finally my baby goes without a unstable idle.

After a couple of days,I discovery a problem.
If I push the accelerator pedal, over 3500/4000rpm and push down the clutch, rpms stay high for some seconds, and turn back slowly.

Same on movement and on neutral.

I unmount and deep clean idle valve. But unfortunately no solution.

So,I try to tune the min bypassing idle valve, acting on throttle valve screw. All this to exclude a problem with throttle valve.
Infact, without a idle valve,my car haven't the problem described.

If I reconnect the idle valve reappear the problem.
I've also try to tune the precharge big black screw on the idle valve, but I can't find a set-up that allow a stable min and don't give the problem on high rpms.

I've check the idle by give a variable voltage, and it work.

I don't know what can I do frown frown frown

If can be useful,I can post a video of the problem

Hi Zonalimitatore,

I think that I may have the same, or similar problem.

Could you describe what you did to solve this? I'm not sure what you mean by 'I find a just regulation between vae and throttle'.

Thanks!

Hello.
I try to explain what I do.
First at all deep clean of vae.
But when I mount it the same problem (I do the same turn when I unmount. 4 turn 1/2)

So I've keep engine on and wait for first fan.
Unplug the vae and engine incoming to not maintain the min.
So adjust it with a screw on throttle valve and find to keep 900rpms without vae.
Try various time by accelerating. (Obviously when try the rpm drop cause there isn't vae)
I do this various time for be sure.Attention, not try when there is a fan on,or light,ecc...)Only engine on,and at temperature. When fan start, rpm drop.So wait until turn off.

Well.when the baby have a stable rpms without vae, turn the engine off. Replug the vae,and turn on.

Now the error disappear.Try to turn on and whatch what's up.

If give a high rpms, keep engine on,and adjust the big black screw on back of vae.Rpms slowly drop down, and you have to find the right tune from high rpms and a shaky min.
When the min it's stable, try to do some acceleration and release.
If on release, rpms drop down again, and after stay stable, turn the vae's screw, until the problem disappear.

When u accelerate and release, the rpms have to stay stable, without drop down and turn ok.
Try different times with the car in motion.

Hope to have explain, but in English it's a little hard!

Thank you Zonalimitatore!
Could you confirm what the vae is please? Sorry! I think you mean the Idle Control Valve, is that correct?
Also, is your car a 20VT?
