handbrake wire replacement - 14/01/2020 10:08

Hello there!
I change my rear pads, cause the left back remains lock.
I think was a dust that cause the locking.

But, when i've do the job, notice the wire of left brake don't turn back.

I've unmount the wire from the brake and do some test with the wire free.

It's locked inside, and one time I pullup the handbrake,it keep lock in that position, even pulloff.
It's very hard return the wire in "pulldown position",even trying with a plier.

Now ask.... there's a way to change the lock wire,or i've to change all handbrake system?

If the inner wire doesn't move replace both cables for new.

Yes I understand but they stretch so only renewing one will effect how they work as a pair, it's best to change both.

The handbrake has a small cable that connects to an "equaliser" bar that should compensate for differences in "stretch" or whatever you want to call it that causes differences between each side, so you ought to be able to change only one side, but after all they're not made of elastic, they can't "stretch" much, but changing both will eliminate any uncertainty....
