Rocker Cover Gasket Change

Rocker Cover Gasket Change - 14/06/2018 11:48

Hi,

Recently found No1 spark plug well to be full of oil, assume it is a leak from the plug seal. Any tips on changing the rocker cover gasket? I read it is best to use a bit of sealant on the left side? Torque for cover bolts? And anyone got a spare working HT lead as that one maybe broken down after being immersed in oil (20V NA).

Thanks
Allan

Bolts torque is 9Nm, which is barely finger tight. Undo and do up in a similar pattern to cylinder head method and a little at a time

Be VERY careful with the top right bolt as that is the most prone to cracking.

I always left this one finger tight, after cracking one rocker cover.

It doesn't seem to be leaking, checked plugs again. Think the coil pack is to blame after oil contamination.

Ive just reread this and it’s highly likely oil which has spilled during top ups, it just runs straight into cylinder 1 spark plug recess. I had this in my Coupe and switched to a funnel when topping up.
