Front Spring Rubber Sleeves

Front Spring Rubber Sleeves - 09/04/2019 08:28

I'm in the process of collecting parts for a suspension refresh. From the diagrams in EPER, there appears to be a sleeve around the bottom of the spring (part no. 82489246 ?) which is rare. What does this do and can I use a generic alternative?

Cheers,
Neil

Yes it's a clear plastic tube that fits around the bottom of the spring, I guess it's trying to prevent the bottom coil turning to rust too quickly? Anything generic would be fine I would have thought, maybe some heat-shrink wrap if you can get a big enough diameter?

Thanks DaveG. I have since found that H&R do generic tubing for this application and they call it damping tubing. Seems to be to stop the spring clanging when it gets fully compressed - mainly at the bottom I assume.

OK, sounds good, never heard of that before!
