Great news for most 16v owners - 24/04/2019 06:59
Greetings, my 2.0 16v has a well known thermostat issue for more than a year. It's average temp while cruising was 70-80c, it did stay around 90c while in city traffic but as soon as I speed up it would start falling. Besides that the thermostats are no longer available, I didn't have any fuel consumption or peformance issue so I never really cared about it too much. Recently my distributor started failing so I started looking for replacement ASAP. I found a guy who has it and he gave me a price of around $18. Since I need a few other parts, and thermostat is one of them, I asked him does he have that by any chance since there are no new ones for purchase for 8 years or so and he was like"haha yeah I have those as many as you need". Ironically, two days after I finally found a stat, while I was going to work in the cold morning,crusing at around 70km/h I saw something strange-besides that it was warming up faster,temperature now was at around 86-88c(around 70c before). So after over a year after it's failure(and after I finally found a replacement),stat decided to start working again. Since this guy has many of them,and confirms that they are in working order, if someone still needs a stat for 2.0 16v,you can send me a PM and I will give you the seller's FB link.
