Which thermostat 20vt - 13/08/2019 18:54

Following my. is it to Rogers PowerItali for the belts and CHOD change. I was advised following the health check that the coolant thermostat needs replacing. Can you please advise which is the quality stat to go for :
Calorstat by Vernet
Gates
EPS
KW
An alternative to the above

All advertised on car parts for less.
Thank for advise

Can't answer your Q but consider changing the temp sensor as well as the stat - think it's the green-topped one.

The later models of 20vt have a different temp sensor, I believe it has three pins.

Thank you for comment and advise.
I have decided and booked the coupe into our local Alfa & Fiat independant garage Bury St Edmunds. I don’t want to do the 160 mile round trip to Rogers garage for such a small job and don’t want to leave the thermostat until next visit for service and mot next June.

Hi Matt
They are quoting me £150 to supply and fit the new thermostat, I will let you know how it goes, although it’s a minor job of course.
I did have a quote from them to supply and fit the cam belt kit, aux belts, tensioners, they came in at £1000. Hopelessly OTT in my opinion, I went to Poweritalia for the work £490 and great job done. Also CHOD replaced and health check, very impressed with quality and service provided.
I will get back to you.
David

I should add for clarity, the CHOD and health check was an additional charge of course to the £490.

I expect the former quote was for "engine out"....any expert on the Coupe will tell you this isn't necessary.

Yes the garage owner/tech guy gave me a detailed explanation on the phone of the work involved with the job. Loosing off the engine mounts and jacking the engine slightly for access. By that stage I had switched off and I just knew an almighty high quote was on its way. This garage does purport to be a Alfa/Fiat specialist though, I’m a newbi to the coupe so still have loads to learn. Have to say I loved the drive down to PowerItalia the other day, what a great car to drive!

This inline conversion does not have to just apply to our 16v's

That's a very tidy installation BBR. Good to know there is a solution.
