CV grease leaking

Hey
Replaced an inner CV boot. This time I used the type with the steel flange. Strangely I've got CV grease leaking out past the cap screws? What gives? How can that happen?

Hi, on the 20vt there is a sponge type seal, eper refers to it as a shield, p/no.7548096 and doesn`t show these fitted to the 16v. Could you have over filled with grease?

I packed in a lot of grease, It all squished out on assembly. I'm hoping I just got a lot in the bolt holes, I'll take out the bolts one by one and clean them out.

More grease sprayed out after I replaced the boot than was there before!
