Rev counter 500 revs start - 27/11/2019 22:19
Pretty sure my 16vt did the same but why does the rev counter start at 500 revs rather than zero? When at rest.

They all do that, if you look closely you will see a small pin at 500 rpm that the needle rests against with the engine off.

Thanks, should have gone to Specsave, is there a reason for it? When does the rev counter actually record accurately eg once the engine is running or is it always 500 revs out?

it's accurate when the engine is running. The reason probably lies buried in some code!

It's buried in the code. The lowest value the ECU can measure is (from memory) 476rpm, so there's not a lot of point measuring lower. 750 or so is the idle minimum.
