Break line specs - 29/12/2019 12:19

Hi,

In case I have to make a new brake line and since I want to make it according to the orginal specs.

What is the size and the kind of flare?

- 4,75 or 5 mm diameter?
- Thread M10?
- Flare DIN, SAE Single or SAE double?

Thanks,

Jaap

4.75, M10 and DIN - a quick search should show up threads like this one

@DaveG: Thanks for your reply. I had seen the topic you refer to, but this was not conclusive. I just measured at various places and new oem brake lines. I read 5mm, but could be due to the paint.

The OE brake lines have a plastic coating which will take the OD to more like 5mm

Next question while I'm cleaning and painting the rear brake callipers. I want to change the bleeding nipples.

They are M10, total length 28 mm, spanner size M11. The same dimensions as for the front callipers.

However, I see several thread sizes in webshops:
M10x1
M10x1.25
M10x1.5

Is e.g. this one correct?

It has a smaller spanner size (10), is slightly larger and thread M10x1.50

I checked the bleeding nippels with a standard DIY M10 nut and bolt. The thread of the nipple is finer than the standard. So M10x1.25 or M10x1.5. Does somebody have experience?

Sorry, I can't easily check, but even with a small ruler, if you count 4 threads yiu should be able to see if those 4 threads measure 4mm, 5mm or 6mm, corresponding to 1.0, 1.25 or 1.5?

I can confirm the specs listed by DaveG. Bleeding niples are M10x1 30mm. Nipples on the brake lines are M10x1 and in some places M12x1.
