Re: DBS-look:new rear bumper with integrated diffuser - 21/09/2011 12:51
Seems like a nice work put in there!
That said; I have strong doubts on if it will actually work. If anything it would catch the airflow and brake.. It's too low and the fins should be much longer (and longitudal, as to these vertical..) to have any effect.
I'd say this is purely for looks (in case of course it's of your taste).
It doesn't fit my taste that's for sure.

Looks good, how much lower is the bumper compared to original...?
It would look right only if the exhaust was integrated somehow...

Unfortunately, not yet.. today we did first dbs rear bumper.. I'll be looking for a few cups to have pictures.

Would it be possible to make it less than 10cm? iv always thought it makes the back-end look too 'lowered' and chunky...

Re: DBS-look:new rear bumper with integrated diffuser - 21/09/2011 14:56
"The Coupe is not an F1".. No of course not. But what if - for example - you get a lot of extra lift at the back, running down Autobahn at 260km/h... Which is hard to garantuee not to get with this one. Similar conditions has killed a few Audi TT owners, mind you.
The Coupe was made with a lot of aero work done and I think it might be an idea to consult somebody with some knowledge in these cases, since Your general idea is to sell this item to as many people as possible. My five cents..

No, but I'll check it exactly.. I think, PIU rear looks OK.
can you still fit the original rear diffuser?
I'm sorry.. I do not understand.. Oryginal rear diffuser ?
Per.. I understand, but big diffusors for Coupe this is absurd idea.. Aston does not need a bigger diffuser too..

Re: DBS-look:new rear bumper with integrated diffuser - 21/09/2011 15:50
Mariusz, can you make the diffuser area so it looks like a seperate item like on the Aston, I think the diffusers look good in black or carbon but I'm not so sure how it would look in body colour.
I think the carbon diffuser looks fantastic!
Posted By: Anonymous
Re: DBS-look:new rear bumper with integrated diffuser - 21/09/2011 15:57
Agreed with Jimbo - although if it was carbon (even carbon wrapped) you'd have to carbonise some other bits of the car like side skirts, lips, mirrors, light cups.....
Hmm.... that'd look pretty nice

If it was really a separate part (bolted on) it would be easy to fix when you scraped it too.

However absurd, here you go:
http://sfk.ibk.se/depa/index.php?sub=viewcar&car_no=321..for anybody wanting a proper diffusor, just cut & copy by the templates.
I personally wouldn't classify the Aston "diffusor" to more than cosmetica either.
Anyway, this is OT
Good luck and hope it ends up good looking!

Re: DBS-look:new rear bumper with integrated diffuser - 19/10/2011 14:01
I don't like the slab-sided appearance of the side of the bumper. It just looks too after market for my tastes although I think I'm in the minority.
I can appreciate the work that has gone into it, however so well done.

Lowering rear bumper fit to the bottom line of side skirts.. oryginal is too high..

Re: DBS-look:new rear bumper with integrated diffuser - 19/10/2011 14:23
I can appreciate why you've done it, but with a little more exploration for a solution, a more OEM feel could have been achieved, while incorporating a diffuser.
Overall, the proportions of the bumper are OK but there's just too much weight on the lower corners for it to be aesthetically correct from every angle. However, that isn't taking away from the fact that you've produced what will most likely be a popular after market choice. It's more about constructive criticism.

gj, I know what you mean, when I did the photoshop I too thought it would line up a bit more like the original bumper. Although I guess with some work you could make it less of a 'slab'. I've added a little seam and bent the side a bit inwards / upward. I think it's possible to do this if you're a bit handy with glassfibre.

Re: DBS-look:new rear bumper with integrated diffuser - 19/10/2011 15:19
PS - just to say: I've always found the standard rear bumper made the car sit quite high from the ground. Most of the tuning bumpers however address this by adding more panelwork below. With the Coupe being rather narrow and high this only increases that feeling. I think Mariusz' DBS bumper is the best effort yet. By far. My main issues are indeed the fins are pointed slightly too much outwards and the side slab is too much.
Jumps back to photoshop for those fins...

That would be solved by separating the diffuser surface from the bumper surface. By pushing it toward the front of the car you'd get a deeper diffuser with a depth of fin, whilst also reducing the visual weight of the lower bumper.

Re: DBS-look:new rear bumper with integrated diffuser - 19/10/2011 16:00
This is a joke mate, not a diffuser..
I doubt there would be any functionality different large or small, after all as you say: it's not a
real diffuser. So I'd rather go for something that is slightly toned down.
Although I'm 200% sure MOST people will like the larger one. I'm pretty sure it won't be long before we see...

Re: DBS-look:new rear bumper with integrated diffuser - 28/10/2011 01:51
I had my doubts about seeing this bumper develop.
But looking at all the new pics on your website of it I've got to say what a nice facelift or arselift shall we say lol it gives the rear end.
I was going to leave the standard look on the rear end of mine because I think its hard to better but must say I'm converted very nice indeed Mauriusz

Re: DBS-look:new rear bumper with integrated diffuser - 15/12/2011 15:58
Bah! Temptation! I went through the trouble of fitting the later style rear bumper and now you come with that. But with 210.000 km on the clock and the car just standing outside... it does need a new front bumper as well though. And hail storm dent removal. We've kind of decided to just keep it "as it is now".
It's THE most beautiful thing I've seen on a 147 though. Excellent work that.
PS - is that a leak?
