Alfa 147 gta seats

Alfa 147 gta seats - 24/05/2012 20:20

I bought a very nice pair of Alfa 147gta seats. I'll keep this brief for the moment, but can add more if anyone is interested. I took quite alot of pics while installing drivers seat.
This is what the drivers seat looks like.

This is a pic of an install on their originals subframes which just doesn't work. Seeing what was needed to do as fitting was not as straight foreward as first thought etc

I have only installed the drivers seat at the moment properly using original Coupe sliders. click to enlarge
Need to sort out filling the gap where the height adjustment handle was and these seats are heated (as well as side airbag /redundant) but have not tested or run power to them as yet.

very nice
not to high if you have a sunroof

Re: Alfa 147 gta seats - 24/05/2012 20:32

Have not got a sunroof so no idea. They actually sit 10/15 mm lower on the seat base than the standard seat and no problem reclining to access the rear. Headrest height is slightly higher. Can measue this. But they are big. Take tiny bit more space from the rear leg room.

Finally, someone who has the money and determination to see this through! cool

147 GTA seats are the best and have wanted some in my Coupe for 2 or 3 years now.

Well done and keep up the good work!

As the pictures are missing from the original, thought I would add some again. This is by no means a how to, but the pictures will hopefully give some idea of work involved. It did require a bit of working out how to go about attaching the original Coupe runners, being creative with an angle grinder and the odd weld.
I realise these might not to every one's taste and certainly not for those who are wanting a light car as these are big and heavy! Personally I like the design and think they suit the Coupe very well with the straight lines and angle! And of course comfortable (to me) to sit in.

So this is the drivers seat in original state.

The drivers seat has height adjustment which is a fairly big lump, especially when compared with the Coupe's driver seat on the right!

This was removed and split into two. The top part of this was kept and used.

Coupe runners attached and test fitting.

Seat back together with Coupe runners.

Fitted in the car. I needed to cut down the plastic side skirts to fit and I did cover the hole which the original handle for height adjustment had left. Also you can see a side by side comparison between the Alfa and Fiat seats.

How they look today.

I fitted the drivers seat first and some weeks later finished the passenger, without taking any photographs. The passenger seat was not a like for like copy of the drivers seat. It was slightly more involved with what to keep and what to cut away and welding for seat belts etc. I do have these couple of pics. I believe one is a 'before' looking under and the other an 'after'

Another comparison. The 147 seat is longer front to back.
click to enlarge click to enlarge

Pro's and con's and differences are in no particular order-

As mentioned they are heavier than the Coupes seats which was noticable when removing and replacing with each other when fitting.

I have raised the front of the drivers seat on the front fixings about 20mm.

Both Alfa seat had the sliding foreward of base and return for access to the rear seats. The Coupe driver seat did not have this and now my passenger seat is without also as it was not possible to instal this between the two. Not a problem for me, but may be to some.

147 airbags obviously redundant.

These GTA seats are heated, although believe it or not I haven't actually tested them!!! When I first got them I did read up on them a little. It seems that it's not a good idea to kneel on the seat as it can cause damage and also read some bits about the switches not being too clever. There is a switch in both seats which is good but, also from what I read wasn't too clear wether it was a simple on/off or wether it had to be linked to the cars general heating control in order to work.

Both driver and passenger seat from the GTA have lumbar adjustment.

And both have a rear netted pocket.
ok I'll stop there wink

I love the 147 GTA seats and are the best seats I've ever sat in love

Good condition LE seats are my second favourite cool

Well done on the skill and patience getting these into your Coupe Darren!

They suit the Coupe and it looks like you've done a good job.

I'll be driving to your place for fitment, if I ever get some 147 GTA seats laugh

As far as I am aware the heated seats are not linked to the heating controls, they are just controlled by the seat switches.

Re: Alfa 147 gta seats - 05/04/2013 21:49

Wired up the heated seat option over Easter, as it was still so cold!
It does just need a (switched) power supply. I placed an inline fuse just in case. I took an earth directly from the seat frame and used the switched live from both window switches as the position also helped for a tidy install. Obviously wire carefully placed and allowing for foreward and backward seat travel.

The switch illuminates red!

After five minutes I can start to enjoy the subtle warmth.

When sat in the seat, the button is not viewable both due to position and the seatbelt covers it. But no big deal.

Re: Alfa 147 gta seats - 19/05/2014 22:13

Dlongstaff,

awesome install mate, waw really.
i like the look of the seat big time, but i love how the standard fiat seat sit. i mean, my wife drives a Volvo C30, pretty car, small, expensive as hell but i can't stay in that car longer then a hour driving due to the damn seats. they are just to small on the ass part of the seat. pardon my language but no other idea how to explain it.
The fiat seat don't have this, they are much wider and your actually sitting with your ass on the appropriate part of the seat thats meant for the ass to be. not sitting on those damn side parts with half of your butt. so my long and complicated question to you is how do they sit? compared to the fiat seats i mean, ass wise i mean tongue maybe give me a wide of the seat if you please wink

Thanks!
Using the recognised European rule! Please use the photos for reference only.
Measuring across the seat where your hips would sit the measurement of the seat base is 300mm. Pic 1
Measuring across the width of the seat at the top of the inner sides is 350mm. Pic 2 (this is where your hips would be resting against and the constricting point)
Pic 3 measuring from the back of the seat along the line of your leg is 530mm. This would be to the back of your knee vaguely, depending on your height.

I have used spaces on the two front fixings of approx 25mm to raise the front of the seat and therefore angle back pushing you slightly into the seat.

Hope this is of use to you!

AvS I'm afraid dlongstaff is long gone from this forum - in any case the pics were hosted with photobucket until they pulled the plug on free hosting, so your best hope is that someone else has pics.

Hey thanks for getting back to me.

Hopefully someone sees this and has some pics of the seats in the car. I’m toying with the idea, as loved these seats in my 156. So just want to be sure they will suit the cabin. I’m sure they will!!

Cheers
