LE lips with black sills? - 23/02/2014 08:04

Has anyone got any photos of LE lips on a Coupe which has retained the black sills and black power bumper part?

OMG do you think anyone would have done that let alone allow photographic evidence of such a hideous crime.

I think an LE kit could look good in satin/gloss black. coat

rofl

That's why I wanted to see pictures! I love my black sills and don't fancy the rot problems the LE skirts can cause.

So I assume that it's not been done on here yet then!

Same here!
I won't be painting my sills unless its black but had considered an le kit in satin black......

There was a chap on here going back a few years who fitted a black le kit to his yellow coupe. I think his username was something like 'skate2create'.

Works well that does for me

Really don't like that, makes the coupe look like it has a foot of ground clearance! Body colour sills and lips will make the coupe look lower, much nicer in my opinion. Each to there own though.

I think it looks brilliant. Too many Coupes look exactly the same, people need to break the mould IMO as at shows they all look like clones

I have to say, I like it. I didn't think I would, but I do.

Black wheels would compliment it even more!

Re: LE lips with black sills? - 02/03/2014 10:41

lol , painted skirts and lips would sort it out laugh

Re: LE lips with black sills? - 02/03/2014 11:57

The black LE sills and Broom gets my vote. I think it gives the coupe a subtle updated edgy look, whilst still keeping its original classic looks pre LE...if that makes sense?

I may well be tempted to do this - with FCSS slightly lowered springs, I think that would be a great mix?

Re: LE lips with black sills? - 03/03/2014 13:33

I like the contrast of the black lower half.
If I ever get round to it I will put a satin black LE kit on my Steel grey coupe. cool

Kit purchased along with some black plastidip paint. laugh

Re: LE lips with black sills? - 03/04/2014 23:32

I did a rough photoshop to give me the general idea but
I'm refurbing my standard alloys in anthracite at the mo,
so haven't got any further with the kit.

How on earth did you get the Coupe up there? Don't tell me, you photoshopped it up there?

Drove it in from the pavement? It looks flat from that side.

... which is due to water being caught behind them if you don't install them properly or take care you free up any of the holes to drain the water. Covering them in black tar won't help there.

Re: LE lips with black sills? - 04/04/2014 09:37

To reverse this discussion, i want to change my black sills on the 16v to red to match the rest of the car. I was quoted 360 to do this professionaly, i know someone on here has done it themselves on here, i just wondered how to do it and do you think it would be a difficult job . I presume lots of sanding down , primer, color coats and lacquer. Any ideas ?

Re: LE lips with black sills? - 04/04/2014 09:41

For £360, id let a professional do it wink

Spot on Graham.
I created that space when I had a BMW 850ci that was too low to go down my steep drive.

The coupe lives up there now as it won't go down either!

Re: LE lips with black sills? - 04/04/2014 13:11

Here's mine: I think it's a subtle update for the coupe’s classic gorgeous looks. It has now got black LE Lips and skirts sitting on Joe’s fantastic slightly lowered FCSS springs.

That looks sweet Jowster!
As soon as I've finished my standard wheel refurb I'll be doing this to mine.

Re: LE lips with black sills? - 04/04/2014 13:34

Thanks Dazvr6, I’m really pleased with the results. I think it pulls together the Coupe’s beautiful classic detailing; the black swoosh at the back of the mirrors, the black door panels, the side slashes...

Re: LE lips with black sills? - 04/04/2014 13:42

Agreed!
Mine will be painted Satin black along with the rear light cups (all red lenses) and an M5 rear lip spoiler.
If they look sh*t I can always redo them. laugh

Re: LE lips with black sills? - 04/04/2014 23:15

I think the skirts and lips would look good with a carbon fibre finish
Posted By: Dazvr6

Re: LE lips with black sills? - 05/04/2014 00:15

That might look cool too.
I can feel another photoshop coming on!
