Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 22/12/2005 06:58

I have seen a picture of a 'concept' coupe convertible and it looked the absolute dogs boll*x. Not like the toy-ish version you found. (sorry for swearing, but it was essential)

Like an idiot I never saved the pic, but I am sure someone will have it... I am sure the car was white, or pearlescant or something

I will also ask good ol' mum tomorrow to ask about in Turin what the deal was with that. She might be able to find out what the score was with that.

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 22/12/2005 07:05

rmcfar, the pic you refer to was a photoshop jobbie. Been aired on here several times. You could tell, the shadows were all wrong, showing the roofline of the real car in the original pic. The pics in this post look like there was actually a plaster model of a topless Coupe tho.

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 22/12/2005 07:18

You might all be right, that was the pic - trousers are suitably moist - and it may well be a fake.

The shadow is unpredictable as some of it falls outside of view under the kerb. I will forward to the powers that be in fiat though and find out

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 22/12/2005 16:21

thank god there is no convert-version of the coupe. the barch' looks nice , but the coupe lines dont mesh with details of a convert'.

Unless of course the REAL convertible was photoshopped to add a roof, just to fool everybody.....

Lol, it's definately a photoshop. I think KJ made it quite a few years ago? It's a good effort anyway and it had quite a few people fooled so far!

I think that looks fantastic, not at all like a bathtub, and would have been a massive seller. Still horses for courses. My missus says she wouldn't see me if I had a yellow coupe

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 04/01/2006 21:57

I think the photoshopped convertible looks great. I would love to see someone with enough time and money have a go at making one. I reckon it would be nigh on impossible though.

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 04/01/2006 23:59

Nothing's impossible if you have the time and the money.
And the people in the know how.
i noticed this picture before i joined your site and i was very impressed if it was a photoshop.
had me fooled

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 28/01/2008 17:52

I love the Fiat coupe convertible.
today i searched all posts in this forum to find a discution about it.
i want to make a fiat coupe look like that.
i have only a problem. i will make it myself and i don;t know if i can register it.:(
any ideas
Posted By: JimO

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 28/01/2008 18:05

What do you mean register it?

The fiat coupe convertible is just a picture, that has been mocked up, it has never been built before.

To do it for real, would require lots of body strengthening, good luck \:\)

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 28/01/2008 19:36

Mad Mike I hope you do make a Coupe convertible, it would probably be the only one in the world and we'd love to see it \:\)

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 02/05/2008 17:09

Hmmm, it would certainly be a cure for my Speed Pink roof, just a bit of a drastic option though..... \:D

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 02/05/2008 20:48

It was a shell going off to be weighed in so before filling it up with scrap I chopped it to see how much work is involed with making a convertible.
It will make a nice project next year, I can see a chrome rollover cage being fitted for safety, but it has to be the right shell and colour first, probobly going to be a speed red with a faded roof \:\/

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 02/05/2008 21:02

Ohhhhhh thats gonna be a sweet project, is it actually MOT passable if you do?

I imagine a lot of strengthening work's gonna be needed!

Re: Convertible anyone??!! - 02/05/2008 21:21

It'll need a VIC test for the MOT but I've been through this before with roof chops.

The cage is the key with the strengtening, six points with chassis cross bracing, somehow I've got to work that one out yet.

It'll probably take 12mths worth of work to complete, 3 if I go at it full time but I've got to earn my bread and butter at the same time and finish my \:\/ Hybrid track car first \:D

It'll be a unique red coupe though Stan, one off, never been done before \:D and when asked why I picked red I'll say....

because red roofs fade and turn pink \:P
