Scottish members mapping **Still space left**

Scottish members mapping **Still space left** - 04/09/2011 16:36

Has it ever been possible to get enough people wanting a re-map at the same time to justify Leighton travelling up for a few days?

Is it something that would be worth looking into? Main things to consider, is there enough interest and would it be of interest to Leighton.

Thoughts please folks?

Just text Leighton and this could be a goer if there is interest from us guys.

Re: Scottish members mapping ( or anyone :D ) - 04/09/2011 18:42

It was something mentioned by Kelv and Sparky a while back. Think Leighton wouldv needed at least 4 coops doing to make it worth his while obviously his expenses would need to be taken care of as well.
Great if you can get him up here.
Ask him if he could do my GT JTS while your at it ??

Re: Scottish members mapping ( or anyone :D ) - 04/09/2011 19:39

I will ask the question for the GT.

I think if there are enough of us and we are saving our own individual/travel costs it would far cheaper dividing Leightons cost amoungst the group. Surely 4 of us are in need of some mapping/ tweaks in light of recent upgrades and it doesn't come any better that Flea.

Ok well let's start a list including supporting mods as Leighton needs this, info cut and paste list when adding to it:

1. Kennyf - gt28rs, FMIC, fuel pump mod, 3" dp, lightened fly

Good shout Kenny smile

Depending on date I would be up for this.

Sure Mattb and the baz man and possibly tight arse bandit Ross would be up for it, this was discussed before but it was getting everyone ready at the same time

Carlisle guys might be interested too smile

If we get Leighton up here, I vote we keep him here wink

Well what I was initially thinking is we all get our interest noted in a list stylee and then we all fight to the death and the last man standings date get's it? laugh

Being straight down the line about it would be an amazing oppertunity saving us all a fair old commute, think we should all be prepared to give and take on the date.

In all honesty I'm prob in the worst position as out of my list I still need to get the clucth, turbo manifold and dp fitted! shocked

Get yer name on the list Ronnie! thumb

Re: Scottish members mapping ( or anyone :D ) - 05/09/2011 07:46

Hopefully we can get another head or two as I'm thinking this would be a weekend stint for Leighton. What I'll do just now is see what dates he has available, I'll try get a few possible dates and then come back here and we can start the bare knuckle fist fighting over it laugh

Oh I've seen a few of these ha fallesn through in the past and although I think we are all pretty serious so once we agree a date to avoid any pull outs ( as this is number dependant ) would anyone have an issue with a non refundable deposit of say £50, obviousley to be held by a more longstanding trustworthy member than myself ( yes I am a pikey and would blag it!! laugh )

If anyone does pull out the non-refund deposit can at least go towards covering the travel and accomodation costs, does that seem fair?

Re: Scottish members mapping ( or anyone :D ) - 05/09/2011 09:53

Ok guys think I need to stick the caveat in here of this being a 1st come 1st served basis as just now we are at the limit for a 2 day mapping visit , although Leighton has stated the possibility of doing a 3 day visit if the numbers justify.

Hot off the phone.

With regards to the deposit Leighton has said he would require half prior to travel which I think is fair enough however this wouldn't be required till we confirmed a date. In light of this there would be no need for the initial £50 deposit.

For those of use with cars in bits and pieces ( see what I did there!) in boxes we might need to get our fingers out, but in fairness can't think of a better reason to spur us on laugh

From that I would take it as something not done on a regular basis and could be hit or miss on the day ( regards connectivity ) if not a tried and tested mapping process. That said he never said no to it so could be a goer.

Re: Scottish members mapping ( or anyone :D ) - 06/09/2011 20:40

Well I was thinking try and get it for the start of October, give us time to get our parts fitted for those with bits to fit plus give Leighton plenty of notice.

But once we agree with Leighton we need to hand over 50% of the re-map fee ( more if you wish)

Does the start of October sit well with those on the list?

Just got my PM, didn't notice the flashing envelope symbol!
I'd be interested depending on the cost and also depending on whether its worth the hassle on a car with only an air filter/cat back exhaust. What sort of figures are we looking at for power on a stock turbo?

Just a word of advice. If / when Leighton does come up, do check that your cars are all running in tip top condition, as it only takes one car to have a weird problem and it will delay everyone else's car from being done.

Mid October I will definitely be at home for a month

And iam in need of the master,as today matty couldn't do much with it on the rollers as he can't adjust the ecu, fueling issuses grr laugh

On the flea mapping day,I would be a whole day to amend, but flea is sending me a new map and new injectors (as he has no map for my ones), so on the day it will be 3 hrs work laugh

Ok guys where we are at with this. I've mailed Leighton the list as it presently stands and ask for prices and of course his availability. I've geared this towards October time as realistically Leighton will have work planned and gives us a window to finish any small bits of work out standing.

Could we all please confirm we are happy with a 50% deposit?

Anything questions you guys have or suggestions fire them up, as for me I'm just going to wait to here back from Leighton.

If this happened a couple of years back I would have been all for it but as it is my Coupé is sitting at 148K and is running fine with the original un-broken engine and good oil pressure (2-2.5 Bar at hot idle)so I don't really want to mess with it much more as it's my daily driver.

I was starting to get excited about it after Sparky's enthusiastic phone call laugh but after thinking about it more I don't want to tempt fate,i'll maybe just wait till my next Coop smile .

Skipper get in touch with lieghton at fc performance,as he will do to you what he is doing with me...change of injectors and he will send a map, then we do power run at Wallace, then details to Leighton then he can adjust and give us a great map,.so on the day he can tweak it rather than spend all day on one car..

How was your run at Wallace ?

Cheers Kelv thumb . The thing that really bugged me was when after popping the Gtec chip in I was hoping to get similar power gains like Sparky but it done cloud9 all!

Re: Scottish members mapping ( or anyone :D ) - 11/09/2011 23:29

Update from Leighton:

"Hi Kenny,

Thanks for the update, I think we can cap it at the current list. In terms of dates, the weekend of the 14th-16th would be ideal for me, so about five weeks away. I am currently talking to Zonta about some tuning ahead of time and hopefully Skipper too as this will speed up the process once I am there. I will send prices as soon as I have confiemed with Zonta and Skipper. So we are pretty much good to go, once everything is confirmed I will ask for the 50% deposit and then go ahead and book flights/hotel.

Speak soon,

Leighton
FC Performance"

So are we all good for those dates? Remember this is rate opportunity for us so we should factor that in with regards to prioritising it.

Re: Scottish members mapping ( or anyone :D ) - 27/09/2011 21:45

Ok lads ..... time to seperate the men from the hermaphrodites!

Leighton is ready for deposits and would like payment for 50% of the total (Map price + £15) paid to:

enquiries@fcperformance.co.uk

Ideally payment will be sent as a "gift"

Could we then add our names to the list below:

1.Kennyf - Deposit Paid

Could someone get in touch with Skipper ( text/phone) to confirm he is still onboard, failing that we have a opening which so if reserves want to fire there name in on the off chance Skipper is man down ( although I'm sure he's not laugh )

*******Frome Leighton for those asking timings********
________________________________________________________

Hi Kenny,

I plan to fly up Thrusday afternoon, so the mapping will be from 9am Friday, and then flying back Sunday. The problem with mapping after 5pm in October will be the light, as I am sure by then in Glasgow it will be dark. As long as there is light I am happy to carry on.

Best regards,

Leighton
FC Performance

___________________________________________________________

Guys can I suggest, where possible we have a pre-meet face to face. This would allow those who might struggle with timings meet the other guys and perhaps we can help each other out, end of the day Flea only needs the car not the owner so one of us could help another out by taking their car from A to B to get mapped.

Indeed this involves trust and respect and thankfully H2YPER isn't down for this buy ! laugh On serious note if I can help a fellow fccuk -er out then I will.

Sorry to have to stear back on topic ( only for a minute though laugh ). Has anyone heard from Skipper. As it looks like we might need to fill his place and I have someone asking if we have space.

I'll PM those not down as paid, as we've all been in it from the start so don't want to take a space back without trying to get confirmation.

Well in Gordon thumb

All apologies if I've came across pushy regarding payment, I've just been trying to keep the momentum going to ensure this doesn't fall down at final hurdle.

As we stand just now we just need Skipper to say yay or nae and Goldywagon to confirm he will indeed be available for daylight mapping.

If anybody does need to pull out then the sooner we know we can get the space filled and with no hard feelings.

Re: Scottish members mapping ( or anyone :D ) - 02/10/2011 22:29

All after speaking with Leighton and the fact that neither of us have heard from Skipper we've concluded that he is bowing out. Someone in Scotlad had expressed interest direct with Leighton so they have stepped in and have paid there deposit.

So we still have one spot unpaid but hoping Goldywagon will be able to work into the mapping sessions which for practical safety reasons must be completed during daylight hours.

This is a 1st and no doubt the last for a long while that we will have Leighton come to us so in all honesty anyone even considering a map in the near future would be mad not to jump on this like a tramp eating chips laugh

Hi it is from the 21st to the 23rd and price will vary depending on turbo. Prices are listed in this thread but an example is stage 3 is £275 + £15 travel costs for flea.

Any more info just give me a shout.

Well as much as reasonably possible I would guess.

I would imagine 250-280 would be realistic with the standard cooler and internals etc?

Only kidding! - He will be staying at the Hilton in Bellshill ML4 3JQ, we will take our cars there and leave for mapping were we can hang about the hotel or make provisions to be picked up and then return.

Times will vary so no hard and fast rule.

Re: Scottish members mapping ( or anyone :D ) - 21/10/2011 07:42

still no ebv arrived kenny tried calling the ebay dude yesterday but the shop rang out ... rodger reckons my icv needs cleaned as when i drove the car home it decided to sit at 5k rpm the whole journey , so im going to clean that out today

still need to tax the thing and swap tyres over i put on my old alloys to the ones im using just now (i forgot my old alloys required spacers and im never using those things again ! )

if cleanging the icv doesnt clear up that prob then not sure what il do

main problem is i had it in my mind this was happening this time next month, heads up my hole with everything just now

probably will lose the deposit ross , i will email leighton later on today and see if i can still send him money and bank the mapping session and travel down another time

All the mapping fuelling/checks done by flea.

No figures as the rolling road wasn't working upon arrival.

I'd just like to say thanks for Leighton with his efforts on all the cars he mapped over the 3 day visit.

I don't think anything went quite to plan but Leighton gave 100% to get all the cars to their best. We won't know our power figures untill next week at best as our RR day fell flat due to the rollers being chuffed frown

Again from me and I'm sure the rest of the lads a massive thankyou to Leighton thumb

Agree with you Kenny, big thanks to Leighton thumb

Took my car out for a spin tonight, OMG what a differnce , I'm so glad I took this opportunity to get a Flea map. Was worried about the charge cooler, no need as Leighton pointed out it was doing a fine job. Brilliant job matey thumb

Also , this bit hurts more then you can imagine..

Big thanks to Kenny for setting this whole thing up, done a fine job matey thumb now get rid of that stupid hat !!
