GT2871R max boos on stock internals.

Hi everyone,

I could use a bit of advice.
My T28 blew and I had to get a new turbo.
I got the GT2871R and the ECU chip on the car is GTEC1

I want to go forged and get it mapped next year, but that's next year.
How much boost can I run with this turbo on stock internals?
Since everything else is stock I should be ok up to 250BHP, if not mistaken.

You are fairly safe on stock internals upto 330-350 ish bhp with moderate boost.
The only thing is that turbo you have will flow a fair bit of power even at 1 bar.
Maybe thats a good starting point for that turbo is 1 bar and get it on the rollers to check power and fuelling until you are ready to forge it.
You will also need supporting mods, ie downpipe and exhaust, possibly clutch and injectors etc etc

I would not run that turbo without supporting mods and properly mapped by someone that knows what they are doing, otherwise any 'safe' boost level is simply guess work.

You'd be far better off getting a 2nd hand standard turbo, and running that until you are ready to do it all properly.

For what it's worth the stock pump is on it's limit around 300bhp assuming it's getting good voltage to it, slightly more for the stock injectors unless you raise the fuel pressure a bit, then they will max out at 340 - 350 bhp or so.

Yeah that turbo really needs to be done properly. Stock pile the parts and get it all done and mapped in one go and forged.
Cheaper in the long run to do it once and do it properly.
Youll go from 220 bhp to around 400ish depending on exact spec of turbo and can run 1.6 - 1.8 bar of boost and not worry.
