Clutch advice - 07/05/2021 13:12
Hi team, looking for some advice on a new clutch please.
After fitting a boost gauge to my car and establishing that it was only hitting 1.1 bar instead of the mapped 1.5, I asked my friendly, intelligent and frankly excellent mechanic to "make it go fast please".
After getting the boost back to where it should've been the car went well but upon hitting the motorway and truly giving it the beans, the clutch went slip slip sliding away as the revs rose the boost fell and no speed was gained. Sad face.
Currently running around 300hp with a GC racing 'fast road' clutch, which I assume is their stage 2 version. With a couple of tweaks hoping to make around 330hp when mapped over the summer.
Leads me onto the question, which clutch should I get?
The CG racing stage 2 is £300, stage 3 is £330 but looks like a paddle clutch. Is stage 3 overkill? What does a paddle clutch do differently to a normal one? Will going for the stage 2 be silly as I've already broken one of them, but it is about 6 years old we think.
What about techniclutch? They have a stage 2 on eBay for £270 that is good for 350hp. Don't know anything about the reputation of this company anyone on here used them? The money saved over CG one will be a big bonus if
As usual, extremely grateful for thoughts and opinions.
