oil breather filter?

Oh right and huge turbos and big exhaust systems with modified/hi flow cats dont basicly do the same,polute the air a bit more.That is so funny about an oil breather/catch can system.

All JTD,s should be banned off the road if thats the case then,like being stuck behind a poxy factory chimney with some of them,theres that much soot,fumes and crap comming out of them.

Theres already a vapour trap on the back of the engine, but there is then a pipe from this to the inlet tract. It is quite a hard rubber pipe

you can trace it from the trap on the back of the engine - it goes round the right hand side of the engine as you look at it underneath the boost pipes and arrives in the intake near to the turbo. The only pipe bigger that joins the inlet is the recirc from the dump valve. You can fit a breather filter onto this pipe at the end which stops your car taking in oil through the inlet. It will take a long time to get all the oil out of your system so don't expect to feel substantial gains straight away, but it does increase the RON of the air/fuel mixture in the cylinders so will give a BHP or two (not much more than that I wouldn't have thought)

un burnt oil emmisions etc are high in some pollutant some hydrocarbon or something, basically the crank case gasses are bad news environmentally. Big exhausts do not pollute, poorly tuned engines namely those running rich pollute and those with por combustion are major culprits. In general a well tuned and modified engine releases far less polution ppm, esp hydrocarbons - with reference to NA cars. The worst are turbos due to richer mixtures, you can see this on the tax on these cars - company car emmisions. If you have a g bells book modern engine tuning he has test results from a well modded corvette, its emissions ppm were far lower then the road version. I would say get a mocal catch tank from think automotive, these have 2 1/2inch inlets and a vented cap, drain plug and sight gauge. I suggest a 2ltr tank.

Why so big? I thought a 1l tank would be sufficient?

Mocal oil catch tank with breathable orange cap is whats on my car in the pic above.55 quid from Demon Tweeks and well worth it too.

On the old forum there was a thread regarding oil breathers. As far as I remember, on a 20vt, there's a one-way valve at the back of the plenum chamber connected to the OE 'catch-tank'. The recommendation was to plug this hole to avoid sucking unmeasured air.
