Integrale Inlet manifold?

Integrale Inlet manifold? - 05/06/2008 20:45

Hi, can anyone tell me if the Grale inlet manifold is a worthwhile upgrade for the coupe 16t? upgrading my injectors so would be the sensible time to do it. Any input much appreciated

there is a thread somewhere (last Sept-Nov)
I did a before and after RR and it looks like it's around 15-20bhp worth of a mod, not bad ;\)
[that was with max road C&B cams, headwork, larger turbo, etc]

-the manifold is 2.5kg lighter than original ;\)
-shorter pipes also good for higher power in high rpm
-also the throttlebody section is better shape, theres larger hole. ( original is 62mm x 46mm ) grale has around 62mm x 62mm, at least my one is.

so, when talking about % ...
original throttlebody 56mm hole ; 5,6x 5,6 = 31,36
now the original manifold hole ; 6,2 x 4,6= 28,52
so theres 9% loss !
and grale manifold hole ; 6,2 x 6,2= 38,44
thats 34,7 % more, than original.
and 22,5 % more, than throttlebody

Alymo - are you planning to swap the throotle body to grale one as well? as JTM says it is a larger hole in the manifold but I believe the grale TB is larger as well, 60mm - you would need to get someone to confirm this as the one I have might have been bored

However to fit the grale manifold you have to relocate the coils and also have a custom throttle cable cable as the OE one is too short when using the grale manifold, if you do swap the throotle body bear in mind the linkage on the end will likely be different

I thought the inlet manifold conversion of choice was to the Kappa 16VT manifold?

yes, kappa is best for high rpm power i believe - loss of low down torque, but they are very hard to get

Thanks for all the info and advice once again.I have a Grale manifold and throttle body but was hoping to fit an Alfa 164 3 litre throttle body which I believe is larger again but may require some machining to fit.I have a good tuner friend so hopefully the relocation/customising involved won't be to much hassle for him.But then again it is a coupe!

So is the standard inlet manifold the main restriction?
