Temps and fuelling

Temps and fuelling - 26/04/2010 22:47

Hi all,

just a quickie...... does a standard coupe ecu take into account air temp when on boost to provide correct fuelling? In other words would/should I see a richer afr on a hot summers day at 1.2bar compared to 1.2bar on a winters day?

Cheers

Hi, it certainly does, like all EFI cars. Though it'll be the other way round: Colder inlet temp = denser air = more fuel. Also, the fuel mixture shouldn't actually be 'richer' because the ecu will adjust to keep the fuel at the same AFR.

I assume you think the ecu will run a richer mixture to prevent detonation? No it will not do this. As kj said, it should just try an maintain the same AFR. It may however back off the timing and or boost etc a little to prevent detonation.

Thanks guys, Scuderia yes I was wondering if it would give a richer mixture to help cool the cylinders and prevent det thanks for the answers. smile
