Car stood unused in a garage for years... - 02/03/2015 14:21
Hi guys, what is expected to be needing a change/fix if a 20VT stood unused in a garage for 7 years apart from: tires, belts + water pump, oils, filters, brake pads, discs, sticky calipers, battery? Anything else that I should look out for?

Don't forget to remove the mice and their nests from the airbox and/or exhaust system

Seized clutch plate and release arm, knackered slave.
So many possibles here, especially if it's not turned a wheel in 7 years.

wheel bearings, rubber hoses (coolant, induction and brakes.)
Could be lots of issues, could be lucky and it all be cool!
Is it a bog standard low mileage plus / LE??

Crickey, I'd better get mine out of the garage before it is too late!

I recently worked on an Le that had been stood on a farm for 9 years,as
The owner died and the son inherited it .
The dashboard and carpet weren't visible due to mould and water ingress.
All it needed was
Cambelt,aux belts+ tensioners as precaution
Alternator seized
Brakes all round,calipers were fine
4 tyres
Battery
Interior removed for de-mushroom treatment
A Good service and fluid change.
Everything worked including the bulbs, and it flew through an mot .
I've got to check over one next month that's been stood for 7 years in Cornwall only covering 7000 miles since new.

So it really depends and is a bit of a lottery really. Thanks for your comments guys.

Jack it depends how and where it's been stored, and whether it was prepared for long term storage so the above are 'worst case' scenarios really.
