Coupe Specialist Leeds area - 16/04/2022 21:01

I'm looking at buying a 20VT & could do with finding someone in the Leeds area who can give me a mechanics viewpoint on any issues with it - preferably a report so I know what to expect & also use in negotiations wink
Does anyone know any decent Coupe specialists in the Leeds area?

Welcome to the forum Lerxxst.

As it happens in the very thread above yours there is a useful Buyer's Guide - that would be a start...

In this thread there are garages which have been recommended in the past, but the info might be out of date. Specialists are now few and far between.

I think the first step is identifying a coupe that has good evidence of servicing, belts etc preferably from a specialist. Also do your due diligence on DVLA MOT check. IMO if a car is consistently failing on rust, floor corrision etc then perhaps it's being neglected and being run on a tight budget. Of courses if you want a project then that's a different bowl of pasta. Get additional pics from the owner on rear arches, front and rear sill ends etc. Be wary of silly mods or mods period.

Turin Motors in Leeds are Italian car specialists. When I lived in Warrington they saved me from a failed MOT and did an excellent and reasonably priced welding job where local garages wouldn't look at it. Also failed on emissions but after Chris did an Italian tune up it sailed through. On the downside they failed to diagnose an injector light warning (despite me telling them the likely culprit) but to be fair another specialist failed as well. And of course it was our old friend the cam sensor rolleyes

On the whole TM are fine and rated highly and have a fair amount of old school exotica in their workshop so know their stuff. smile

Useful to know of TM G-Man, maybe add their details to the list?

Thanks for the great info.
I'm in discussion with the seller at present.
I'm waiting on them fixing a few little bits - brakes need sorting - before taking her out for a test drive.
@Edinburgh - thanks for the pointer - I've already got that list in my phone for when we get to negotiation ;-)

What I intend to do, if the test drive goes well, is get the seller to take to a specialist - Turin Motors will be ideal - & get a full report on her - then I know what I'm looking at & possible issues.
I've had 3 before so know they can be a little "temperamental"?

I did notice when I went on my initial look-see that one of the front arches was rusty - is this a serious issue or can it be sorted easily?
I would point out I'm no mechanic & there are no Coupe specialists in my area.

Thanks again for the help

If you're based in Cumbria then it appears you have an Italian car specialists in Kendal - Dawsons Garage. They must be fairly confident with coupes as they feature a 20vt on their Facebook (V229 EWE). Club owners car by any chance?
