am i asking too much?? - 24/04/2006 19:01

hey guys ,

have 'bit the bullet' and have decided i have to sell my coupe due to straining finances

i've put it in the autotrader for £3500 o.n.o. but so far, the only calls i've had are from dodgy databases trying to con me out of 80quids

details:-
Speed Red 20VT 97 'R',
81K with main dealer history up to 2004, specialist then on.
12months MOT, 6months Tax,
Just MOT'd and Serviced @ Motormech,
cambelt done at 69K at Powerfiat.
new front dics and pads for this MOT, new lower arms and rear discs and pads for the last.
All original keys ( + red master ).
Ragazzon cat-back exhaust and K&N filter are the only mod's.
1 previous owner ( i bought the car April 2003 )
loads of reciepts MOT's etc. to verify mileage,
very good condition, always garaged.

i know people can be put off by no leather or A/C, so i asked Paul (motormech) what he thought it was worth, and he said around 4K.

am i asking too much?
(would consider any sensible offer)

cheers.

Sounds about right, cars aren't shifting that quick, there are quite alot for sale and all similar age, spec, etc. If yours doesn't have AC or leather then it will be at the bottom of buyers list, as this is what they want. Advertise on here as well, you may get more interest. You need to PM Bobbs or Scooby to be granted access to post for sale

Clean it up, put a good advert in it and then get up early on sat and get a good parking space somewhere in town where its legal for you to park it for half a day.

Also try piston heads forum, do a good ad with pics and then make a post in general dicsussion about what to buy for your next car and then put selling my coupe, heres the ad..... now what next, budget etc.

Just lie, at least you fet a free plug for your advert.

My Coupe same year as yours, same mileage but AC and Leather, just could not sell it . Advertised it on here as well as Autotrader, all i got from the Autotrader is canvassers even though i stated in the ad no canvassers, in the end i bit the bullet and px it for a 350z , the dealer gave me £3200 for it .I think it is just a bad time for selling cars , if you can hold on then i am sure you will sell it.

cheers vinnyboy,
i've had the same problem, i also put 'no canvassers' on my ad, but so far they're the only calls i've had.

note to sellers: if you get a call from a company called 'Auto User' or 'Car Data' ( Tel.01592777800 ), tell them straight away that you're not interested, and to remove your number from their call list. I told them i wasn't interested on the first call, and still got around 10 more calls from them. Had to get really arsy with them in the end

Selling cars can be a pain, I dread selling mine now asa its done 94k and interior & exterior condition shows it a bit, even though it still runs nicely and has been dead reliable with a FSH.

I had right trouble selling my old 106GTI, it was totally mint and the cheapest one on AT with a good mileage, FPSH etc. Hardly anything for 2 weeks so I let it go a bit cheap to the first guy, yet after that I had about 7 calls!

I would say its lack of leather and A/C when I bought mine two months ago I wouldnt bother looking at one without A/C.

As thats what I wanted! As did two of my mates who have had them!

I had the same problem when selling my Green 20VT.

No air, no leather and on a three week autotrader stint I only had one viewer and what seemed like hundreds of calls from those agency deviants.... almost had me as well I was so sick of 'em callin

I had it lsted on here too but in the end it sold on the bay which was only 6 sheets to list.... well cheap!

Did the deal outside of ebay so no commission to pay. I did take a bit of a drop on the price I was after but as I already had another coop I needed to sell really.

It's worth a go on there so long as you set a reserve or start the bidding at something you'd be happy to take, plus on the bay you can show loads of picks if you've got them hosted somewhere

Best of luck with your sale CB

hey duke,

i'm on weston close just off roston drive, up near the flintlock pub.

cheers pinin, have considered the ebay route, but think i'll wait for a bit longer to see how it gets on on here. do need to sell, but can stretch it for a bit longer.

cheers all
